"Think with your brain, not your emotions!"

The title is a quote from one of my favorite books, Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment. I love this quote because its so true. I am naturally logical (some would call me unemotional) so I get annoyed with extremely emotional people who are either depressed or utterly in bliss all the time and have to let you know either subtly or not. Argh! I like Benvolio in Scene One, because he tries to reason with Romeo and get the lovestruck fool to push aside his emotions and just look at things realistically. But of course, Romeo is just one of those people--at least in the beginning. Anyways, does anyone agree with me? Or am I talking to a class full of emotionally uncontrolled people? If it's the latter, I'll start writing out a formal apology right now.

Romeo and Juliet

I can already tell from yesterday's reading that i am going to have a very hard time with Romeo and Juliet. It's really hard to understand what they are saying and even harder for me because i don't have many patients for this and i get aggrevated easily not understanding it. I've had to read Shakesphere before and i know it got easier but that was in 6th grade.
Well, hopefully it'll get easier to me. i really like the story though oh course. I'm excited!!

Outstanding Book

Ok so i have read more of this book and am almost finished.
It has gotten really good, this guy and finally express their feelings of eachother and they began to get real close.
The guy, Jonas, brother comes into town and is telling Jonas all he needs to tell him to get what he needs, which is money, because he has some problems with getting involved with the wrong people. Jonas figures out what he is doing and stops it before it gets any farther, and Jonas brother, Nathan, goes to Emilie's house and blames her for lying to him and telling Jonas of a certain visit. He does some really uncalled for things to Emilie and then just at the right time help comes!
There was defiantly a lot of suspense going on at this moment.
I cant say much more, except that it is an exceptional book.

Oh for those of you who read Sarah Dessen's books, what is your favorite, because i am going to need a new book.

And She's Fair I Love

This is a line that Romeo uses to descibe the women who he loves. This according to Romeo has refused to be love or be loved. Romeo says that she has decided to be chaste forever, which means to be a virgin and never give birth her whole life. Romeo says that this is a huge waste, because she is a beautiful and when she dies her beauty will die with her. He says that love he has for her is more than he could ever have for another. When Benvolio suggests that he forget about her and says that he should look at other beautiful women, Romeo says that will only make him think of her more, becuase beautiful women wear masks over their faces making the man wonder how beautiful she is and that will just cause him to think of her beauty. I think that is what true love is, when you love someone so much that everything makes you think of them and they can make you sad, happy, mad, and just about any emotion.
One thing I dont get is on the questions, who the heck is Rosaline?

Weirder..

So my book, Just In Case, has gotten weirder. The dog I used to think he brought to school everyday is actually imaginary. Which makes a whole lot more sense. WOW!

But his parents think he is gay, I think this is so hilarious. I thought that was a totally ridiculous question, until, he met a friend. This friend is a guy. He seems very gay to me. Not only does he play along with Justin (and his imaginary dog) but he is beyond smart. Seriously, he knows everything. This has made me start to think that he is gay..

But on the other hand, SHAKESPEAR SHAKESPEARE!

Today, we read Act 1 aloud to the class. It was interesting. Phrases such as,

Fetch my sword, ho!

all caught my eye. And the men had no respect for women! They talked about slamming them into the wall, and having a sack load of jewels. I mean C'MON! Let's live in the 21st century.. PUHLEASE!

That is what i have for now, talk... :D

Romeo and Juliet

This is what I understand is going on in Act I so far:
A fight between Sampson & Gregory (servants of the Capulets) and Abram (servant of the Montagues) starts at the very beginning of the play. Both Lord Capulet and Montague want to get involved, but their wives disagree. The prince then comes and breaks up the fight. He says that the next time they fight they will pay with their lives.
Romeo is very sad and just wants to be left alone right now. Romeo loves someone, but she doesn’t love him back. He can’t stop thinking about her beauty. Benvolio tries to tell Romeo to instead look at other beautiful girls, but Romeo says that this will only make him long for the girl even more.

The End...

of the best book ever. I just finished The Perfect Shot. It was a great book. I am not going to say what happened or how it unfolded, but I can tell you what it covered. What I found in this book was basketball, a murder mystery, racism, racial profiling, and history. The books combines all these elements and blends them together for an awesome story. Also the title, The Perfect Shot has about five meanings. I don't know what else to say without spoiling the book. All I can say is that I highly recommend it to probably any one. It was a great book!

NEW BOOK and shakespeare!

The other day i went to our school library and checked out, Just In Case. This title is ironic, because the kids name is Justin Case, and I just thought that was SO cool, so i checked it out.

The beginning was kind of weird, and a few chapter later, things got weirder. This guy doesn;t like who he is at all. So, he decides to change his name, his clothes, his personality and starts bringing his dog to school with him.

I think this is weird, considering I don't think you can even do that? But, anyways, I am hoping for the ending to turn out better.

SHAKESPEARE!

What an amazing man! His writing is still remembered after hundreds of years.

Today in class, we analyzed his writing, and what words meant back then. Such as an, or if. They all had different meanings. Im sure if I lived in that time, I would confuse my own self just by talking!

I was thinking about how much times have changed since then. Now, our world is made up of hicks and people who just really don't care about grammar at all. Imagine those type of people living back in Shakespeares time. They would most likely be outcasts!

Which brought me to the conclusion, I really would rather have had the chance to live back then, opposed to living in todays world.

It seems like not only were people more intelligent, but more mature and had a sense of politeness.

Anways-

How would you like to live back in that time era?

What did you think about how different our language is today?

Would you rather live in this time, or back then?

Leave stuff :D

Shakespeare

I am excited for this unit on Shakespeare. I like old books everything and I think that once we study and began to understand the use of the old English that the play will begin to get easier and more fun.

I also like they way that the love of Romeo and Juliet is portrayed. I don't know if I would kill myself over a loved one in their time, but I think it is a wonderful way of showing their love for one another. I know that in this time and day it would be weird and looked down on (somewhat) to kill yourself over someone you love. I know I wouldn't do that in this time period, but like I said before, I don't know what I would do in Romeo and Juliet's time.

What do you think you would do in Romeo and Juliet's time? Would you kill yourself over a loved one or would you not?

What do you think of this unit on Shakespeare? Do you like it or not?

Do you like the old English?

Update!

I read more of The Perfect Shot today. Basically his friend Julius got arrested for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is a black kid and he got arrested because he was lost in a white neighborhood. After Brian gets him out of jail with the help of Todd's uncle, Julius acts different at school, playing basketball, and refuses to do his project. Brian finds out Todd's secret. Which I won't tell you. I don't remember what I said in my other blog but their is continued news coverage about the murder of Amanda's family. Brian and Todd are nearing the end of their project and are almost ready to turn it in. Brian gets the basketball team together to help Julius with his project. Right now their is so much going on...I am waiting for it all to connect.

Turn to the dark side, it is your DESTINY!!!!!!!!!!!!

just a small blurb from Star Wars. Well, my post is about the freewrite we had today . Alot of people think that our live is already set in stone, and that our destinies will always be fuffilled the way they were predicted. But I think that we can make our own destinies.

We live in America, the land of the red white and blue, the worlds most beastly army, and freedom to be whatever you want. If you want to sit on your bums and do nothing with your life, then you can do that. But if we want to suceed in life, then it is our hard work that makes us succeed, not the fact that it is our destiny.

I think that God knows what we'll be when we grow up and all of the decisions we will make, but he doesn't controll them, and lets us controll our own destiny and decide where we want to go with our life.

I also think that people say the "It is your destiny " thing just to give that person confidence. If you told a good skateboarder that he will never go anywhere with his life and just end up flipping patties at Burger Buddie, then he will probably get discouraged and end up there. But if you put confidence in him by saying that " It is his destiny to pull off the 1080, and that he will be better than Tony Hawk" because it is his destiny, then he will feel good, and maybe go out and do that and become the next world phenom in skateboarding.

Destiny is only controlled by you and not set in stone, but it is a good helper in giving somebody confidence, so we should still use the phrase and tell people that it is their "destiny", even though it might not, because who knows, maybe they'll be the next Tony Hawk.

Bookends

So the title of this book doesn't sound to interesting, but the book is actually really good. It is about this woman who is a professor and she goes back to her hometown to do some research for her church. Right now it doesn't sound to great but eventually a guy gets involved and and it turns into a romantic comedy.

This woman named Emilie is doing research for her church for a 70th aniversary for their religion, but she is also doing some research for herself. Before this she was trying to "rewrite" history, but failed and lost respect of her fellows "historians." So by finding this one specific thing she hopes to get that out of her mind and gain her pride back. Emilie is a woman her loves history and she meets a man completely opposite.

The man she meets name is Jonas and he (how he stats it) plays with dirt. He a construction guy in other words. He is also a real lady's man and at first Emilie can not stand him. Neither one of them will accpect the fact that they both like each other and are in complete denial.

Both of them run into a conflict that affects each other and neither one of them are willing to give up their pride and their project to make the other happy. So they both try to woo the other to get their way and it ends up becoming one big mess. I haven't finished yet but im thinking it will end up pretty good.

THE PERFECT SHOT...

I'm reading a book called this. It's quite a long book at 360 pages. But it's about a guy named brian who is a high school senior. He plays basketball. But what it's really about is how his girlfriend Amanda is murdered along with her brother and mom. The authorities assume it was the father. The book is really hard to explain because their is so much details and everything is connected. Like Brian has a class assignment about how history repeats itself. The students pair up with someone assigned by the teacher. The randomly get a assignment. Brian's is about how a guy is convicted of murdering a girl even though he didnt commit the crime. He is executed. They have to talk about how the justice system is unfair. And the strange thing is that the case is kind of like how Amanda got murdered. Because that day Brian was shooting hoops. The cops ask him questions about anyone he saw and he can't remember details about a jogger who he saw before the crime. Also Amanda's dad is being unfairly convicted so that is how the stories are related. There is a ton more, but it's too hard to explain. So far it's a great read!!!
