IT'S THE WEEKEND!! (part II)

Yep yep! It's friday again :)! I'm having a much better day than I was on Tuesday. I'm excited for the weekend! I'm starting to understand To Kill A Mockingbird a bit more. It's getting easier and I'm catching on! It's actually an OK book! I started a new book. Well, I was reading I have lived a thousand years. But I realized that I already read that book, so I'm reading The True and Outstanding Adventures of the Hunt Sisters. It's a really good book. I'm on page like.. 60? Yeah. It's written pretty weird, but I really like it. I suggest it to anyone else.

ANYWAY! Hope you all have a great weekend :).

:[

I feel sick :[

let's start a conversation :D

MAP Testing

Map Testing
This year we as freshman don't have to take the MAP! Sophomores and Juniors do, but Seniors and Freshman don't. Instead of taking the MAP, we will be spending 9 and 1/2 hours over two weeks in Chief Time. My Chief Time is with Ms. Lines, and she is organizing a trip to Campbell 16 to see a movie on one of the days when we have 2.5 hours in Chief Time. But not just our chieft time, the entire freshman class will get to! This hasn't been set in stone yet, but hopefully it will work out.
p.s. MAP week is the week after Spring Break.

Scout Saves The Day

In last nights reading Scout basically saves her dad and Tom Robinson's lives.

The night before the trial for Tom Robinson Atticus goes downtown and tells everyone not to stay up for him because he won't be back until they are all asleep. Jem decides that he wants to go downtown also to see what Atticus is up to. Scout hears him and convinces him that she is going with him. They go get Dill and head to town.

When they get there that see that Atticus is setting outside of the jailhouse reading the newspaper. They began to leave and then see a group of cars stop in front of the jailhouse and a bunch of men get out. They move to a stop where they can see better.

Scout breaks free of Jem's clutch from when he stopped her from running to Atticus earlier. She runs through the mob to Atticus and feels a bit foolish for jumping in the middle of a crowd of men she doesn't know.

Atticus tells Jem to go home and take Dill and Scout with him, but he refuses. While this is all going on Scout tries to recall who the men are. She then recognizes one of them to be Mr. Walter Cunningham. As proper manner taught her, she began to talk to Mr. Cunningham. She was told to always talk about stuff that interest the person she is talking to because it is not polite to talk of stuff that interest you and not the person you are talking to. So, she tell Mr. Cunningham that she goes to school with his son and that he once came home with them to eat dinner. She tells him to tell Walter, Mr. Cunningham's son, that she says hi.

Scout was not getting any response, so she hit another subject. She began to talk about his entailment's and how they are bad and all, but that her dad said not to worry and that they could work things out.

No one talked and Scout began to think what she had done wrong, until Mr. Cunningham grab her shoulders and said that he would tell Walter that she said hi. Then the mob of Cunningham's left and went home.

Even though Scout was just a child, she saved the day, and was very brave jumping into the mob. I really do not think that Scout intended to get the guys to leave, I think she was just doing what she was brought up being told to do when she saw someone she knew. I think it is amazing how a kid can perform a heroic act without even knowing it.

SAINT PATRICKS DAY!!!!!!

I don't know about you but I'm pretty excited about Saint Patrick's Day.
My family is very into the Irish traditions and what not, so tomorrow all of my family is going to my grandma's house and we going to cook tons of Irish based food! =)
Saint Patrick's day used to be a lot better when i lived in California because, i have more family their and hardly any here. :[
This is one of my favorite holidays!
I hope all of you do something fun for tomorrow.
If you have anything planned you should tell me about it. =)
p.s. DON'T FORGET TO WEAR YOUR GREEN!!!!!!!!!
be safe! =]

i didn't think mockingbird would be funny

When i first started reading Mockingbird i didnt see it coming but there were actully some parts of the book that i was LOL-ing. =]
I was like wow.
haha.
Did you guys find any parts of the book funny???

Puerto Rico

I'm surprised no one has blogged about our stories. I'm making my story about Puerto Rico. I was going to make a story like something that happened there but i decided to just talk about it and my experiences there. I'm kinda behind on it because i missed the day that you guys wrote in class about it, and i left it at my house today but pretty much it says how i hated moving there at first, and thought it was the worst thing ever and for a little while it was. I couldn't stand it and was seriously thinking about moving back to Springfield and living with some other relatives. That was at the end of 6th grade.

Then in 7th grade it got a little better and i began to understand the language and knew my way around and the people. Then 8th grade year came and that was my best year of my life!! i loved it and ended up being extremely sad to leave. I guess the moral of this story is give everything a chance and try to make the best our situations. Because if you dont try to make friends and don't try to learn the language and the culture you not only have a bad time, people don't respect you as much. You might sound like a total idiot talking in spanish but they respect you for trying.

I still keep in touch will all of my friends there. I'm actually going to see them on Spring break and some of my best best friends live there. It was a great experience and so glad i didnt move back to springfield early!!! :):)

What I like and What I don't Understand!

What I have found out last night while reading the book made me curious of why anybody would chose such a bad judge (in my opinion) for the trial of Mr. Tom Robinson? What I have read last night got me concluding that maybe people back in society then were afraid to be seen with African Americans like how Mr. Dolphus Raymond pretends to be drunk to keep his reputation up for the white people so that he won’t disgrace them.
I was wondering why travelers would call somebody to go to h3ll just because they had a really nice garden. I was also wondering why Lula was so against the Finches being at their churches. I think that Reverend Sykes is a good man who wants to help the Robinson family by raising money to give to them so that they can buy a house. I especially enjoy how Atticus wants everyone to hear the truth behind the Robinson case even if he does not win the jury.

I have a couple of questions about the book and I would be glad if you helped me answer them!

1. Could anybody define what shinny or shinnied is in the book?

2. And why did they have Aunt Alexandra over if they didn’t want her?

3. Why would Mr. Cunningham not speak to Scout when she was asking him a question in front of the jail?

That would be all of my questions and if you answer me I thank you. Have a good weekend!!! :)

Snobby snobby!

<--That's Aunt Alexandra! Haha, she's just about as snotty looking as she sounds, don't you think so? Aunt Alexandra is probablyn my least favorite character so far. She's just very rude and outspoken when she doesn't need to be. Like when she tells Atticus about Calpurnia, and how there's not need for her anymore. Calpurnia is pretty much apart of the Finch's family, and Aunt Alexandra doesn't know how much Calpurnia means to them obviously. Amongst this, Jem and Scout don't even enjoy Aunt Alexandra being that their house, but then againk, who would?! It seems like the townspeople think that Alexandra is a saint or something, but they don't know her as well as Jem and Scout evidentally. Off subject now, but I'm so happy that it's Friday!!:] The week went by very fast, and I'm so happy that it's over. I hope you all have a great weekend filled with excitement:) haha.
I'll see you all again Monday!

Behind, But Making Up For Lost Time!

Sorry to say that I'm somwhat behind, but I'm getting caught up. I'm only short a few chapters, so I'll be caught up by about 6 tonight! lol I'm loving this book, but I have so much homework, baby-sitting, and related stuff to do, so it's really hard to read a book like this and do all of that. You know how it is... Anyway, I've got a general idea of what the next few chapters are, but I'm still going to read so I know what they're like! =] Can't wait to get some free reading time!

When I talk, You listen

Yesterday we did the listening etequitte thingy, and here's what i came up with.

1. Eye contact. You cant listen to someone if you're not looking at them.

2. Don't do anything else while the person is talking

3. Take notes if it is a lecture or if the Teacher is talking

4. Smile at them to let them know you're paying attention.

5. Ask questions to let them know you actually care what theyre talking about.

The thing with listening to people is that even if you don't want to hear what they're saying, you should still listen and pay attention to be polite. One time, in speech class, we had to do student congress after school, which is basically where we are congressmen/congresswomen, and we give speeches trying to convince people to vote for a certain bill that is actually being debated on in congress. I was giving one of my speeches, and I saw that one personn was texting, andother was reading, and our student teacher was talking on her cell phone. I could hardly stand it. It was like I wasn't talking to anyone at all, and I was the only one in the room.

don't be like the people in my student congress. Just listen to the person and don't fiddle with your cell phone while theyre talking.

thats all

Dill is the best character!

My very favorite character is Dill Harris. I think he's the absolute funniest and he can weave a story better than anyone. I absolute love the part when Scout finds him under her bed and the first thing he says is, "Hey, I'm 'bout to perish. Got anything to eat?" Then Scout asks, "How'd you get here?" And he proceeds to tell a huge tale about being chained and starved in his basement, kept alive by a good-hearted farmer, escaping by pulling the chains from the wall, walked two miles, worked at an animal show all over Mississippi until "his infallible sense of direction told him he was in Abbott County, Alabama, just across the river from Maycomb. " Jem and Scout listen calmly to all of this. When Dill is finished, Jem asks: "How'd you get here?" Then Dill tells what really happened--still with a bit of exaggeration. I found it so funny; I love Dill.

The Notebook: Same as the movie, yet not

Oh my gosh, on Tuesday, I went to the library looking for 'A Million Little Pieces'. Instead, it wasn't there, so I grabbed 'The Notebook' by Nicholas Sparks. I decided to compare it to the movie, and for those of you who have seen the movie and not read the book, it's around the same plot but a few things are changed here and there. For those of you who say the movie's more... adult-ish, the book is just a tad more than that. If you are shy about that sort of stuff, either skip it or stick to the movie. If you think the movie is sad, then you're in for a treat.

There are parts of the movie that make me want to cry (saying so if I don't cry in the first place), but there are all the parts in the movie PLUS the part where she doesn't remember who he is. I just read the part with that in it, and I want to cry right now...
If none of you have seen the movie or read the book, the main plot is about this old man named Duke who reads to a woman named Hannah. She has Alzheimer's, so she remembers nothing of Duke, her past, or anything. Anyway, Duke reads her this notebook he has about two people named Allie and Noah. It's a love story about how the two are separated during their teen years, but slowly come back to one another. Allie is engaged, but she decides and sets towards what she has to do. There's a twist at the end, so I'm not going to ruin it too much for you all if you're interested in it! I absolutely hate romance novels and such like that, but I love this book, and I'm going to continue to read Nicholas Sparks's writings! I honestly can't wait to see how his other books are.

PEACE it's Friday

Hey man it's Friday! Thank Goodness. Even though i have to go to work after school today and tomorrow but i don't care.

To kill a mockingbird is really picking up I'm glad Dill is back because it just wasn't the same. This book is better than i expected. It gets confusing at times but my classmates help me out with some of that.

I hate to say that i forgot to read one day and i was completely lost. But later i caught up.

Well, I'm going to go so... Peace out!

♥Scout♥

I think that scout did a very brave thing. I would be very scared if i had to stand up to a lot of men who were like 3-4 times my age. It is a good thing that scout stood up to the men even though mr. underwood had his back the whole time. I wish i knew what scout was thinking when she stood up to the men? When scout came out and said hey i wander everything scout said to Mr. Walter Cunningham to make him leave her father Atticus and Tom alone? Leave me some comments Bye!

Ch. 15 and Ch. 16....Sneaking out a night!

Have you ever sneaked out of your house before? Well if you have what did you do? Where did you go?

Well in last night's reading Jem and Scout did. They followed to Atticus to the jailhouse. What they found out was that he was protecting and talking to Mr. Robinson who was being held in jail for rape. Atticus was there because these guys wanted to kill Mr. Robinson and take matters into their own hands. I think that would be really dangerous for Scout and Gem to interrupt that and start talking to the guys. Luckily the county police officer was watching with a shotgun in hand.

Overall that was a scary moment for both Scout, and Atticus. I think this book is really starting to pick up and it's getting better.

Well tell me what you think! and answer the questions above!

Southern Snob

I thought it was cool that Scout and Jem got to go to Calpurnia's church, First Purchase, and come to the realization that she leads a "double life"; one the Finch family's housekeeper, the other "having command of two languages" (well-educated and 'colored').

However, I thought it very rude of Aunt Alexandra that she even suggested to Atticus that something needed to be done about "her". Although she may be proper, Aunt Alexandra is very snobbish with her "More Holy Than Thou" attitude. She's so - I don't even know how to describe her - the way she talks about everyone in Maycomb and blames certain characteristics on their heredity. If I were Scout, Aunt Alexandra would have gotten a piece of my mind and I would have begged Atticus to ask her to leave. I'm kind of behind in reading (Ch.14), so that's as far as I've gotten.

I Don't Really Have a Title For This Blog

hello everybody! :P
so i don't know what to blog about today that has to do with school really. I've gave my opionion about To Kill a Mockingbird plenty of times and I'm not currently reading any of books because i want to catch up on To Kill a Mockingbird first.
I'm getting my driving permit today!!! I'm excited, hopefully i pass it this time. I went to Republic last time and failed it twice. I'm going downtown this time and i've heard its easier. :) :) Thats the one good thing thats happened today, i havent been having to good day though. Actually its been pretty awful. i don't know why, just fraustrating. I'm really behind on my work in this class and some others. Plus...I'm in a fight with one of my friends from Puerto Rico for really the most stupid reason, but hopefully we'll work it out when i go to New York with her. I guess that's something really exciting!! I'm going to New York for her birthday party on March 31st. What all are you guys doing for spring break? Going anywhere cool? I was going to go to Colorado with my friend but i couldnt because my dad's wedding and my mom's baby shower is all on the same day that we would have to leave for Colorado but oh well. Well, none of this has anything to do with class or school but it's the only thing i could think to write right now. :)
Hope you have a good weekend!!!!!

The book finally gets HOT

Mockingbird is really starting to heat up. At first , I thought that this book was really boring(sorry Ms. James), but now that the court case is nearing, it is getting exciting. I really thought there was going to be a fight when those men came to the jailhouse that night when Jem and Scout snook out, but I guess there wasn't one, because the men didn't want to do violent acts in front of the kids.

That would have made the scene awesome, but it is still probably my favorite scene of the book, because it was filled with suspense. Anyway, im glad the book is getting good, and I hope that it gets even better.

By the way, Georgetown won their first round match. Ballin' ! all the way, baby, all the way.

see ya'll latur,

The Half Blood Prince

I just finished reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I really liked this book and would give it a 9 out of 10. In my opinion it is one of the better Harry Potters that J.K. Rowling has written. If you have not read this book and still want to don't keep reading because I am going to give away the ending. From where I left of in my last post the 6th years were learning to appeareate. Harry has been continuing his lessions with Dumbledore. Before Harry can do his last lesson with Dumbledore he has to get a memories from professor Slughorn. Once Harry gets the memories he finds out that prefessor Slughorn taught Voldemort. Tom Riddle (voldemort) asks professor Slughorn about Horcruxes. Slughorn tells him that it is when a wizard kills some one and splits their soul and puts it in a very valuable object and hides it to preserve there soul away from the body making them immortal but inhuman. Tom also asks if it would be a better idea to spit the soul in seven because it was the most powerful number. Slughorn got nervous and said people have only ever attempt to split their soul in two and became very nervous and made sure this was just hypothetical. Dumbledore then tells Harry what he thinks the Harcruxes are such as the diary in Harry Potter and the Camber of Secrets. Harry finds Malfoy in the boys bathroom crying to moaning myrtle. When Malfoy catches Harry spying on him he tries to curse him but Harry is to quick and fires a spell out of the half blood priences book. This causes a deep sword like wound across Malfoys face and chest and becomes unconscious. Snape comes in tells Harry to get his book but Harry hides his book and gives Snape Rons book. Harry then gets detention every Saturday for the rest of the year. Harry misses the final Quidditch match but they still win the cup. Harry and Ginny start going out. Dumbledore and Harry go to find a Horcrux. The go to a cave that Voldemort went to when he was a child. Harry force feeds Dumbledore Poison and then are chased by zombies called Infuri. When they Return to Hogwarts Malfoy has let the Death Eaters into the school. Dumbledore freezes Harry behind a door so he wont be seen. Malfoy explains to Dumbledore how he has been working for Voldemort and how he let the Death Eaters in. He then tells Dumbledore how his mission is to kill him. Dumbledore tries to help Malfoy. Snape gets to Malfoy and when he won't kill Dumbledore he dose it himself. SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE! Harry chases Malfoy and Snape trying to stop them. When they are almost off the grounds Snape tells Harry that he is the Half Blood Prience. Harry then goes to find Hagrid and shows him Dumbledore is dead. He then finds the Horcrux that had fallen out of Dumbledores pocket. There was a note inside that said "To the Dark Lord, I know I will be dead long before you read this but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret. I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can. I face death in the hope that when you meet your match, you will be mortal once more. R.A.B." After Dumbledores funeral Harry decides that he isn't going back to Hogwarts but is going to find and destroy Voldemort and Snape. Harry doesn't figure out who R.A.B. is but in the fifth and sixth books they mention Regulus Black, Sirius Black's brother. Regulus was a Death Eater until he was killed for turning on Voldemort. Many people believe this is who R.A.B. is.

Breathe. Just breathe.

There are some things that might make me mad, but most of all, right now, it is the progress of this book. I mean, what the heck, man? I am only at about chapter 11 right now because i am a very slow reader and i can't get the same progress as most people. I just got to the part where they shoot the dog.

I think that's sad. I can relate to this part, though, because my mom's ex boyfriend had to shoot my dog. He got really sick and we couldn't afford to put him down. Did you know that that actually costs money. Anyways, we don't know what was wrong with him, but he couldn't eat without throwing up and wouldn't move for a lot of the day. It was horrible. He just... shot... him... in the head. I can't believe that Scout and Jem thought that it was cool.

That's sad..
not cool...

THE DRAMMMMA!

So, we are reading To Kill A Mockingbird! At first, it was a bore, and very hard to read. Now, it is full of excitment!! Lets start way back around chapter 12. After Atticus leaves for his business trip, the children are left with Cal. She decides to take them to her church on Sunday, and it may have been a huge mistake. The first few minutes they are there, Lula, a regular attender makes a huge fuss about how white children should go to a white church. Everyone else pushes her down and church begins.

The weirdest part i have read so far in the book happened right after this. As soon as the offering was collected, Reverend Sykes decided it wasn't enough. He responds by locking the doors and forcing the congregation to give up every dime they have. I think I was the only one freaking out! The whole church acted like it was a regular thing to be threatened and forced to splurge on the offering at church. I wondered if this was only common at black churches, or if it just happened because of the time period.

A few chapters later, we find out that Dill comes home. Scout is very excited, but Jem's "maturity" kicks in, and Dill learns that they won't be having to much fun for the rest of the summer.

By the next time i blog, i will be almost done with the book. It is very exciting, and i can't wait to see what happens next.

What did you all think of this incident? Wasn't it totally crazy?

Have a nice weekend :D

TGIF

Thank gosh it's Friday! This whole week has felt like Friday, except today :P Weird, I know.

I really like To Kill A Mockingbird. I think it's a really good book so far. Things are starting to pick up now, and I can't wait to read about the trail. I think it's going to really bring me 'into' the story some more.

I'm glad that Dill came back! He's my favorite character right now. I think that when he comes to Maycomb, he seems to liven everything up, especially with Boo. I don't think that Scout and Jem would have done half the stuff they did concerning Boo, had Dill not been there. Anyone agree?

Aunt Alexandra is flat out mean, and I don't like her at all. I think she's too hard on Scout. It also bothers me that she came into the house because Scout needed a 'mother figure'. It's just rude of her to show up and expect to stay, and expect respect from someone (Scout) who doesn't want her there anyway. Scout seemed to be doing just fine with Calpurnia. And if it were me, I would rather have Calpurnia be my mother figure. She seems to genuinely care about the kids.

social skills.......

Today for our freewrite we wrote a list of important things for social skills when listening to someone reading their paper.Having good social skills will help the writer make their writings better. So I thought I would share my list of important social skills:

1.listen attentivley-listen closely to what the reader is saying.

2.ask questions-think of questions to ask about the story so the writer can be more descriptive.

3.smile and nod-smile and nod to show you are listening and you understand what they are saying .

4.be respectful-don't be doing other things while they share their writing and don't put your head on your desk beacuse this will make them think their writing is boring.

5.make eye contact

There are a lot of social skills but those are the five most important to me!!!!!

March Madness!!!

Wow its March Madness. I'm so excited. And for everyone out there I got Kansas, Florida, Georgetown, and Texas A&M in the Final Four. I believe KU will win it this year and I am not even a huge KU fan like most people are around here. I don't really have a college team. But I really think this year they won't choke and that they have the talent and depth to win it all!\

And as far as To Kill A Mockingbird goes, I'm on track and have read up to chapter 15. The book is really starting to pick up. There is so much pressure on Jem and Scout. I think the book is actually pretty good now.

Well tell me what you guys have for your brackets and comment me!

are you skilled socially?

Today in class we talked about social skills. I think having social skills is a very important thing to have throughout your life. If you don't pay attention to the person you're talking with, then that person feels unwanted and not important in the conversation. A few social skills that you should have when speaking to someone are:
1. eye contact
2. don't pop your gum, if you're chewing any
3. let them know that you're actually listening to them, by nodding and asking questions when necessary.
4. don't fumble around with your belongings
Even though there's many other skills that you should practice when in a conversation, i think those four are the most important in my opinion. Well, I think that's all I have to say for today, and I hope everyone had a great day and has a good evening:]!

I FINISHED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey, ok so i got home from school today and finshed my book, A Million Little Pieces. I just want to say it was really greattttttt book. I think its become one of my favorite books or my favorite book. It's definitly not a warm and fuzzy type of book but i like books like that...that tell about people's lives and how they get through them. It's really deep and has many messages that get through to you...not all are about how to not do drugs even though thats definitly the main message but it also teaches you about life and love. People you should read it!!!!!
Ok, now that i've talked about that. I wasn't in class today because i had to go drive for drivers ed. I got to parallel park. :P:P I've kinda figured out that you guys blogged today but is that it? Is our rough drafts due tomorrow or friday. Well, i'm going to go start on my rough draft just in case it is due tomorrow. :)

Why so sad?......ITS MARCH MADNESS

It seems like everybody is either having a bad day or a bad week. Well Im not that upset because it March and we all know what that means.....Basketball. So i was just wondering what you guys think about this years bracket and who is your final four. I just finished mine last night and i have Wisconsin, Georgetown, Texas A&M, and UCLA with UCLA beating A&M in the championship. I just got kinda bored with all of this Mockingbird and people upset so i decided to post about something way more exciting. So what are your taked on this years bracket.......

dang, i'm glad im not the only one.

I'm just having a really crappy day too. Nothing bad has happened, or atleast nothing I'm not used to. It's just kind of a.. bad day. My dad hasn't talked to me since Sunday. How stupid is that? I mean he IS supposed to be the adult here, not the one acting like a 5 year old giving me the silent treatment. When Sarah came to pick me up I went outside and as I was getting in the car he came outside and chewed me out, using every word in the book, because I slammed the door? Sunday night I told him I didn't want him to tickle me so he punched a hole in my wall and put a huge dent in the locker in my room. HELLOOO! Crazy, much? Yuhh I thought so too. My dad is usually awesome so I don't know what is up his butt this week. Besides that, I HATE track with a passion. On top of it all, my boyfriend is leaving on Monday to go to drug rehab for two and a half months. I've been dating him since last February. He practically lived with me this summer because he never wanted to be at home. Now I'm supposed to go 2 a half months with out so much as a 'Hey, I love you!' for the entire time. I don't know how I'm going to do it! Wow I know I talk about it way to much, but I can't talk TO him so I feel like I need to talk ABOUT him.

UGHHH. I need to sleep until the end of May. Will someone wake me up in May? This post in no way relates to To Kill A Mockingbird, so I guess it's pretty pointless. I guess I just needed to vent. Hope some of you are having good days unlike the past few of us bloggers. Peace.

This la la la lullaby =]

Ok so i am currently reading "This lullaby" by Sarah Dessen.

It's a great book so far and i only have a few more chapters to ago so i thought i would let you know what it's about.

The story is about a girl named remy, who's mom is on her fifth marriage.

So Remy is pretty tough when it comes to guys.

She goes though tons of guys, herself.

She can never find the right one.

Her dad was a musican, who she had never met, but had a song written just for her.

The name of the song is "This lullaby"

Remy has a rule about not dating musicans just because her dad was one.

But when she meets Dexter things kinda change.

That pretty much sums up the introdution for the book.

If it doesn't sound like a good book then i am probly not very good at describing books.

So you should totally check this book out.

And see how things work out for Remy and Dexter (totally weird names, right?)

it's kinda a chicky flick book.

but everyone should read it.

any guy willing to read this book is my hero. =]

Life

From day one I talked about getting out
But not forgetting about
How my worst fears are letting out
He said why put a new address
On the same old loneliness
When breathing just passes the time
Until we all just get old and die
Now talking´s just a waste of breath
And living´s just a waste of death
And why put a new address
On the same old loneliness
And this is you and me
And me and you
Until we´ve got nothing left
-Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III

It's true you know, everybody has a bad day. We are all in deep doo right not and we all feel hurt. There's nothing we can so anymore but to just take a deep breath and continue with life.

But if there's really love in this world, why is there so much depression and why is there suicide and why the heck are we at war right now?

Scout and Jem and Atticus and Dill live pretty well [[as far as I've read]] and life's really not that dandy. Life hurt. And it hurts like you just got hit by a bus.

Everyone's Problems...

Wow... It seems like everyone's just having a bad day today. Is it unlucky wednesday, the 14th or something? Just to add to the virtual drama, tomorrow won't be my day either. I'll give you two reasons:
One: Because every 15th, something bad happens to me or someone I like. My mom fell down the stairs on Dec 15th, and my best friend got mad at me. February 15th, I was dumped. It hurt, but what made it worse was he didn't say it exactly to my face, nor did he pick the right time... But that's a different story!
Two: I have to deal with torment from him every day, and tomorrow will probably be a picnic for him.

Anyway! I hope that all of you people who have had horrid days today (or any day) have them get better! Bad days are awful! Go get a book and drone out reality! lol It works for me! Ok, I'm going to go read more of Mockingbird and type up this rough draft we have to do!

Still Bored With It.......

To be honest this book is still boring. I find it hard to understand the grammar and the whole story. There are parts that I find a little more interesting than others but in all i dont find the book exciting at all. From what i have heard from other people either you are stuck in the book or you absulutly hate it. I have heard people say that they dont even want to read another page of it. Im trying not to be pesimestic and say that because i really expect it to get better. I just hope that it will be a book that i could read for pleasure. The one think that i thought was interesting was when Atticus shot the dog. They said that he used to have a great shot and that they called him "One shot Finch". I thought it was weird how he didnt want Scout and Jem know too much about it. I almost think that maybe he was trying to hide his past. I guess we will see.

*sigh* Just another one of those days.

I am having one of those days where nothing goes right and you just want to cry. I can't really explain it, but I can say that this really sucks. First, I found out that there are rumors out that I like this guy, but he is simply only my friend. I hate rumors, especially when they are about me. On top of that, I feel like my mom only forgets about me when she's not yelling at me. Today, I asked her to get my photo album on her lunch break, but she forgot about me until I called her later. She promised me she would bring it because it was for school. If it wasn't for school, shoe probably wouldn't have even considered it. I am practically invisible when I am not doing something wrong or when I'm not being yelled at for any random event. She makes me feel like [insert bad word here] and it really hurts. I just wish that I could be perfect.

In To Kill A Mockingbird, Scout loved Calpurnia even though she yells at her and disciplines her. Cal and Scout have this friendship, so to say, that is unleavable. I am jealous of that. I am jealous of anyone who had a mother or a father that they can bond with., my dad doesn't live anywhere near me and my mom... well, you know the story.

I wish I had a mother figure like Scout does.

My Pappy's Old Too

I can kind of relate to Scout in that my dad is somewhat "old" too. This is a picture of the Rose Bowl when Iowa State (where my dad went) went against Wisconsin in the year my dad was born. My mom is fairly "old" as well, but I don't have reason to be ashamed of them for that because they waited to have kids until they finished college. My mom is an OB/GYN and my dad is is Regional Manager for Auto Zone, as well as a Colonel in the Marines. I'm glad that Scout and Jem overcame their feelings of shame about Atticus when he shot the "mad" dog, and that they understood why they had to go to Mrs. Henry Lafayetter Dubose's house to read to her.

=(

Have you ever had one of those days where everything
seems like it is going wrong?
Well, if you have I'm having one of those days today.
And it sucks...A LOT!

my whole day has been based on bad events.
it makes me want to scream.
:(

But i hope the rest of you have had an excellent day! :D

If you feel like today has been horrible, then you know how i feel.
And if you feel as if today has been great, your lucky!

Who Likes Sad Endings?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I love the heroic type of sad endings. If you're like me and you can handle an older book, you'll love All Quiet on the Western Front. Yep, I finished it and it was amazing. The few chapters before it gets sad were really funny too. These nuns are praying for the wounded soldiers in the hospital and it ticks the soldiers off because the praying woke them up early and they want to sleep. Then the nuns won't close the door as they keep praying so a guy throws a bottle through the door and it explodes in the hallway and the praying stops. lol

It's an amazing book if you want to see a first hand perspective on a war. I absolutely loved it.

it's about time!

It finially mentiond a mockingbird! Haha. I was wondering when it would; anyone else? I wonder what would happen if you actually did kill a mockingbird. Would you be shunned away, like Boo? Hmm, that's a thought :P

My favorite chapter so far is chapter 10; when Tim Johnson comes to town. For a while, I never agreed with Calpurnia when she said that Tim was 'mad'. I just figured that he was sick or something. Nothing that drastic. But as Tim started getting closer to town, I started to realize that there was a chance he was crazy. But i didn't like the idea that Atticus shot him. If anything, they should have called Mr. Johnson to come and pick up his dog.

Let's have a conversation :]

NEVER KILL A MOCKINGBIRD!

Last night I read more of To Kill A Mockingbird. I learned more about why the book has its name. Atticus gives both Jem and Scout these guns. He tells them they can shoot the bluejays and tin cans, but to NEVER SHOOT MOCKINGBIRDS! He said this because mockingbirds cause no harm and they just sing beautiful music. I found this interesting that the book is named after this little event in the book. Other things happen in the chapters I read and Gem and Scout continue to take insults from school about their dad's trial. So I'm not going to say anymore in case you guys have not read up to this point. (even though you should have by now!)

Finallllly.. A mockingbird!!

So after reading all this way, i finally found the first mention of a mockingbird! It was on page 90. Scout was talking to Atticus about their new gun set they got for the holidays. Atticus told Scout that it would be pleasant not to shoot birds, but if she had to, to kill off the bluejays. He warned her never to kill a mockingbird, they serve no discontent, all they do is bring pleasure to our lives. I thought this was so soothing, to know how we felt. Usually men back in that time did not care about nature, but Atticus does.

Then a few pages later, Scout gets into a lot of trouble. They go to have a nice meal with her relatives. One of which is Francis, the most annoying jerk of a cousin that you could meet. He goes on to call Atticus a nigger-lover and a threat to the rest of the family! Scout replies with her knuckles in his teeth. After everyone heard the fighting, they all come running out, and of course they blame Scout.

Later that night, Unckle Jack gives her time to explain her side of the story and finds that it is not her fault. I really love Uncle Jack, he seems like the guy that can be rough at times, but has a sensitive caring side.

This is where i am... i know its pathetic. But i am a very very slow reader.

:D:D

Don't kill a Mockingbird

What I have read in chapter ten in “To Kill a Mockingbird” about the part to not kill a mockingbird whenever hunting, gave me a better understanding of why the book is called “To Kill a Mockingbird.” When Atticus told Jem to never shoot a mockingbird bird be because it makes beautiful music got me to the conclusion of why he said that. I think he said that because a mockingbird is kind of like a lawyer who mocks at things (people) for a purpose. I am not sure about my conclusion but this is my best guess. That when he was referring to not shooting the mockingbird, I thought of how Atticus “mocks” people about the right things. Making the world appreciate Atticus a little more. This is why I think the book is called the way it is.

Does this remind you of anything

When i started to read To Kill a Mockingbird i first thought of the movie The Sandlot. When the books starts to tell about Dill visiting during the summer and that was when Jem and Scout in some way start to get into trouble. Well, when the new kid moves into the neighbor in the movie The Sandlot the kids seem to get into more and more trouble. Especially when the new kid uses his dads Babe Ruth autographed baseball to play and he hits it over the fence that has the "killer dog" behind it. The part in To Kill a Mockingbird where Dill gets Jem to run up and touch the side of the Radley Place reminded me of this. It was when I thought that Jem and Scout began to get into a lot of trouble. So think of other movies and books that you have seen and read that remind you of this book and maybe you will begin to enjoy it a little more.

So I had a really good day today (Tuesday). A whole lote better than last Tuesday, nothing in particular really happened last Tuesday that made it bad, but last week just wasn't that great at all. Anyways, enough complaining :] I went to our school library yesterday in hopes of getting the siquel to that book Twilight I finished last week, buut the book won't be in for a few days and I'm the second person on the hold list. But I went to the public library and I would have been the 13th person on the waiting list, soo i figured I should just deal with being number two. In the meantime, I checked out a book from the public library just to keep me occupied and to have a free reading book. I checked out the book Leap Day, by Wendy Mass. I've realized I like covers of books that are simple, yet the story seems more interesting and eye opening. I started Leap Day tonight and I actually enjoy it quite a bit. It's about this girl named Josie and she's born on Leap Day (hints the title.. haha) and it's just going through her day at school on her birthday. One thing I like about the book so far is that it reads from the main character's point of view, Josie, and then it reads from '"everyone's" point of view in the story, so you know how everyone else feels and stuff. That's pretty much it, I hope i can get that sequal soon :/! Hope you all have a good rest of the night and a great late start Wednesday tomorrow!!:)

I'm moving!

No not really. But I wanted to blog today about kids who have to move and switch schools alot. The free write Mrs. James made us do this afternoon made me think about it. I've moved SO many times. I moved to 5 different states before I was 18 months. That wasn't even the end of it! We've managed to stay in Springfield for a while now though. And I like it. I lived in Bolivar and in Fair Play. I liked it there. I lived in Iowa too for a long time. It's weird because I have more friends in all those places now than I did when I lived there. I really really wouldn't mind living in Des Moines, Iowa again. I know alot of cool people up there. But it would also suck having to move so far away. Have any of you moved anywhere far from home recently? I don't think I could do it! There is no way I could leave my house, friends, and boyfriend! I've grown so close to everybody here and I HATE change. Meeting new people wouldn't be too hard, but still! I don't want to meet new people! I like the people I'm friends with now. And everyone knows that long distance relationships, even friendships, never last :(! Well I guess that is all I have to say is that if you have recently moved and your old enough to actually understand what's going on, then more power too ya! That takes alot of heart and power to leave everyone behind! Have a nice day!

Letting Go

The Heart of Life
By: John Mayer
I hate to see you cry
Laying there in that position
There's things you need to hear
So turn off your tears and listen
Pain throws you heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
No, it won't all go the way, it should
But I know the heart of life is good
You know it's nothing new
Bad news never had good timing
But then the circle of your friends
Will defend the silver lining
Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
No, it won't all go the way, it should
But I know the heart of life is good
Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
Fear is a friend who's misunderstood
But I know the heart of life is goodI know it's good

This song describes the way that I feel right now. My grandpa died on Monday, and so I’m not in the best mood. Listening to this song shows me that I need to remember that my grandpa is now in Heaven, and that he is better there than he was when he was still here:
A year or so ago my grandpa was diagnosed with carcinoid cancer. He, for the most point, was leading a normal life except for the doctor visits and the $2,000-3,000 shots he had to get multiple times a month. By Thanksgiving he had gotten so bad that he was in the IC unit at a hospital, and we were told that he wasn’t going to live much longer. But I knew that as long as he had his sense of humor, he would be fine. He has always been a jokester and a screwball.
By Christmas he was finally able to go home. He seemed to be getting better; and he was joking more than when he was in the hospital. Just in the past month he got so bad. He got to the point where he weighed less than me. He also could no longer sleep in his bed so he had to stay in the living room with a hospital bed. When he was still able to stand up (with assistance by my grandma and my aunt) he looked at himself in the mirror and said, “I look like I am in a concentration camp.” He had gotten so skinny. I think that you should know that he was a farmer and that there had not been a day in his life (that I can remember) to where he has not been outside. I’m sure that being stuck inside broke his heart, the only good thing about being in the living room is that he could still watch the birds come and eat from the bird feeders
In these last few days when he attempted to stand up he would just fall back down on his back, his eyes would roll into the back of his head, and he would shake uncontrollably for a couple minutes. My grandma would always start crying because she thought that she had lost her husband. My grandpa got to the point where he had to go to the bathroom on himself in his diaper type thing, because his body could no longer physically get himself up out of the hospital bed. Just the thought of this made me cry because my grandpa’s brain was working fine, and yet he had to go to the bathroom on himself like an infant does.
There are so many more details that I wish to share with you, but I am simply crying too much as I am writing this post. My grandpa never lost his sense of humor, but he let go because my aunt told him that he could go and that we would be fine.
And we all didn’t want to let him go, but we all knew that he would be so much better off in Heaven than trapped in this body. The worst part of this entire experience is that my grandpa didn’t deserve to be stuck inside, and have to suffer like this. He always the kindest person in the world. He was so giving and gentle. I never saw him yell. He was always outside on the farm and it broke my heart to see him stuck to where he could not go and enjoy the outdoors, like he had done for his entire life. I love him so much and never wanted him to leave, but I know that now he is always taking care of me and that everything will be fine.

What Do We Value Most?

As i thought about this question, i realized that we pretty much value everything we have, or else we wouldn't have it. That makes sense... right? If we really didn't care about something too much, i doubt we would take the time to keep it, clean it or use it. On the side of that, actual things that we value (what seems the most obvious to me) could be money, family, spiritual needs (religion), clothes, grades or even animals.

I value all of these things a lot! Some more than others, but they all have some meaning to me. This question, What do we value the most, is more asking prioities, and if they are in line. For example, if someone put clothes above religion or family. That wouldn't make any sense at all! But if we truly look at how we feel, maybe that is the realy truth. From Mrs. James asking us this question, I believe that we would realize how we set our lives up. Whether that is on earthly things, or God, and believing that there is one.

Now that is something to think about!!!

What do you all value most?
&& do you think you have your values lined up in the right order?

Father Knows Best

The story seems to be starting to "heat up", especially since Miss Maudie's house caught on fire in Ch. 8. It's kind of hard for me to imagine never seeing snow before, but I guess I'd be pretty excited to see the first snow since 1885. Kids at school find out that Atticus is defending a black man by the name of Tom Robinson, and Scout is ready to defend her father with her fists. However, Atticus says that he would be disappointed if she did, and he has to do what he has to do, which means defending someone that many others probably wouldn't. In Ch. 9, Scout and Jem go to visit relatives whom they really don't like, and Scout gets in yet another fight with her own cousin. Francis (cousin) starts making fun of Atticus - just like the kids at school - and Scout literally knocked his block off by hitting him in the face and cutting her ring finger. Uncle Jack seems to be a pretty cool guy, but Scout's right when she says that he doesn't know much about kids. It's nice that she heard her father talking to Uncle Jack because now she should know that she can come to her father for anything. Let's see what comes next...

Snow, Fire, and Fights!!

Today I read chapters, 8 and 9 of To Kill A Mockingbird. For the first time in a long time, it snows in Maycomb. Jem, and Scout have never seen snow and the make a snowman. Then that night, it freezes, and the town uses their fire places to keep warm. Miss Maudie's house catches fire and most of the town wakes up to help remove furniture while the fire dept. comes to put it out. Later in ch. 9 around Christmas time word gets around town that Atticus is defending a black man on trial. People don't like that so Jem and Scout get lots of crap at school about it. So when the family goes to visit relatives for Christmas and one of Scout's cousins starts to bring that up, Scout punches him in the face. Scout gets punished and later on back at home overhears Atticus talking to their uncle about this trial and the problems it will bring to their household. Scout doesnt think Atticus knows she is there, but he does all along.

So that's what is going on!

What do you guys think of the book so far???

I really just don't like this!

really don't like To Kill A Mocking Bird. It's way to confusing for me, I didn't really undersand what went on the first 6 chapters until I read Spark notes on it. I don't think we're supposed to do that but I just don't get it. Why do they always call their dad, Atticus? AHHH! I think I'm just not meant to read this kind of book. The only books I really like that aren't really based around a recent time period are one's on the Holocaust. Which by the way, " I have lived a thousand years" is supposed to be here on Wednesday. I'm pretty excited to read it, :). I haven't gotten around to read anymore of that 'It Girl' novel. But I probably will soon.

ANYWAY! If anyone is as confused as I am about To Kill A Mockingbird then let me know & maybe we can help eachother out. A'ight peace!

A Three Year Teacher

Okay so my story about a three year teacher is that I had the same teacher for three years. And OH MY G*D it was the worst three years of my life!!! What my situation was is that in fourth grade, I had this really this guy teacher and he was really strict. The teacher that I had was nice but very strict with his rules inside the classroom. He is a neat and tidy person. He also likes the community because he believes it should not be polluted, in fact he even rides a bike to school everyday for the whole school year.

He makes us listen to classical music during test and we can only talk when he lets us. He even threw a book at a student in the hallway! And he YELLS at us whenever we don’t do anything right. When I first had him I thought that “Okay I only have to deal with him for only one year, and then it’ll be over.”

But guess what? I was oh so wrong!!! When I was finished with my fourth year I was glad that I had passed his class and his torture-ness. In fifth grade I was so shocked that when I heard I had the same teacher again, my mouth dropped so low that I could have sworn it touched the ground. I had no clue that he was promoted for a fifth grade teacher. And then there was another year of the same teacher, same rules, and same bored-ness.

Now, at the end of the fifth grade year I thought for sure that I was not going to have him. But guess I must be jinxed or something because I have the same teacher for the sixth grade year! And then there was the same oldness that he sort of have when you had him for three years. And there was another year wasted on the same teacher. When it was the end of the sixth grade year I thought to myself to hope that I would not have him for seventh grade. And I guess I had hoped so hard that it finally happened.

I felt like jumping over the moon when I heard I was not going to have him for another year. And then Seventh Grade was (still is) the BEST SCHOOLED DAY OF MY LIFE!!!

Character List

Here is a character list for those of you who cant tell the difference between people

Jean Louise “Scout” Finch - The narrator and protagonist of the story. Scout lives with her father, Atticus, her brother, Jem, and their black cook, Calpurnia, in Maycomb. She is intelligent and, by the standards of her time and place, a tomboy. Scout has a combative streak and a basic faith in the goodness of the people in her community. As the novel progresses, this faith is tested by the hatred and prejudice that emerge during Tom Robinson’s trial. Scout eventually develops a more grown-up perspective that enables her to appreciate human goodness without ignoring human evil.

Atticus Finch - Scout and Jem’s father, a lawyer in Maycomb descended from an old local family. A widower with a dry sense of humor, Atticus has instilled in his children his strong sense of morality and justice. He is one of the few residents of Maycomb committed to racial equality. When he agrees to defend Tom Robinson, a black man charged with raping a white woman, he exposes himself and his family to the anger of the white community. With his strongly held convictions, wisdom, and empathy, Atticus functions as the novel’s moral backbone.

Jeremy Atticus “Jem” Finch - Scout’s brother and constant playmate at the beginning of the story. Jem is something of a typical American boy, refusing to back down from dares and fantasizing about playing football. Four years older than Scout, he gradually separates himself from her games, but he remains her close companion and protector throughout the novel. Jem moves into adolescence during the story, and his ideals are shaken badly by the evil and injustice that he perceives during the trial of Tom Robinson.

Arthur “Boo” Radley - A recluse who never sets foot outside his house, Boo dominates the imaginations of Jem, Scout, and Dill. He is a powerful symbol of goodness swathed in an initial shroud of creepiness, leaving little presents for Scout and Jem and emerging at an opportune moment to save the children. An intelligent child emotionally damaged by his cruel father, Boo provides an example of the threat that evil poses to innocence and goodness. He is one of the novel’s “mockingbirds,” a good person injured by the evil of mankind.

Bob Ewell - A drunken, mostly unemployed member of Maycomb’s poorest family. In his knowingly wrongful accusation that Tom Robinson raped his daughter, Ewell represents the dark side of the South: ignorance, poverty, squalor, and hate-filled racial prejudice.

Charles Baker “Dill” Harris - Jem and Scout’s summer neighbor and friend. Dill is a diminutive, confident boy with an active imagination. He becomes fascinated with Boo Radley and represents the perspective of childhood innocence throughout the novel.

Miss Maudie Atkinson - The Finches’ neighbor, a sharp-tongued widow, and an old friend of the family. Miss Maudie is almost the same age as Atticus’s younger brother, Jack. She shares Atticus’s passion for justice and is the children’s best friend among Maycomb’s adults.

Calpurnia - The Finches’ black cook. Calpurnia is a stern disciplinarian and the children’s bridge between the white world and her own black community.

Aunt Alexandra - Atticus’s sister, a strong-willed woman with a fierce devotion to her family. Alexandra is the perfect Southern lady, and her commitment to propriety and tradition often leads her to clash with Scout.

Mayella Ewell - Bob Ewell’s abused, lonely, unhappy daughter. Though one can pity Mayella because of her overbearing father, one cannot pardon her for her shameful indictment of Tom Robinson.

Tom Robinson - The black field hand accused of rape. Tom is one of the novel’s “mockingbirds,” an important symbol of innocence destroyed by evil.

Link Deas - Tom Robinson’s employer. In his willingness to look past race and praise the integrity of Tom’s character, Deas epitomizes the opposite of prejudice.

Mrs. Henry Lafayette Dubose - An elderly, ill-tempered, racist woman who lives near the Finches. Although Jem believes that Mrs. Dubose is a thoroughly bad woman, Atticus admires her for the courage with which she battles her morphine addiction.

Nathan Radley - Boo Radley’s older brother. Scout thinks that Nathan is similar to the deceased Mr. Radley, Boo and Nathan’s father. Nathan cruelly cuts off an important element of Boo’s relationship with Jem and Scout when he plugs up the knothole in which Boo leaves presents for the children.

Heck Tate - The sheriff of Maycomb and a major witness at Tom Robinson’s trial. Heck is a decent man who tries to protect the innocent from danger.

Mr. Underwood - The publisher of Maycomb’s newspaper. Mr. Underwood respects Atticus and proves his ally.

Mr. Dolphu Raymond - A wealthy white man who lives with his black mistress and mulatto children. Raymond pretends to be a drunk so that the citizens of Maycomb will have an explanation for his behavior. In reality, he is simply jaded by the hypocrisy of white society and prefers living among blacks.

Mr. Walter Cunningham - A poor farmer and part of the mob that seeks to lynch Tom Robinson at the jail. Mr. Walter Cunningham displays his human goodness when Scout’s politeness compels him to disperse the men at the jail.

Walter Cunningham - Son of Mr. Walter Cunningham and classmate of Scout. Walter cannot afford lunch one day at school and accidentally gets Scout in trouble.

Yesterday, my friend and I when behind my old middle school, after working and caught a few fish for my fish tank. All my others died because of the ice storm. We dug up some worms then went on our way. When we got there I started to rig up and saw that I forgot to get the bobbers on the way out. luckily I saw one about 20 feet up in a tree. I climb up there and about 12 minutes later I got it down and rigged it up. By this time my friend had already caught about 6 and put some of them in the cooler. I think I caught about 5, but I only had one around the size we wanted. When we went home there was about nine in the cooler. My friend kept seven and I kept two because he has a 200 gal. tank. They are all pumpkin seed perch(above). Today they are doing fine and are adapting great, but not eating yet.

To Kill "To Kill a Mockingbird"!!

ok...so right now im feeling that book is pretty much boring and i dont like it. i was trying to be positive at first saying that it would get better...just have to give it time but NO. Time has done nothing. Now, im still not very far along in the book but far enough along to know that i dont like and i dont think it will get much better. I want to enjoy it and im trying to get into it but its very hard.
Maybe it is just the beginning because it seems that most people are saying that its not a very good book, but then when i ask people if they like it who've already read it they say it was good or not so bad. I still have a little bit of hope in me.

I think the real problem is im reading another book that is reallyyyyy good and i like it alot and im into that book so much that i dont want to have to read "To Kill a Mockingbird." or it seems dull compared to what im reading.

Wish Me Luck!!!!

Who Done It?

In to kill a mockingbird, Scout and Jem find stuff in a tree that they pass after school every day. Who do you think is leaving the little treasures for Scout and Jem to find?
I think it might be Boo Radley. I don't think that a little kid is the one leaving the stuff there, which is what Jem and Scout think so far. So comment me and tell me who you think is leaving the stuff in the tree for Scout and Jem.

St. Patty's Day

St. Patrick's Day!
This Saturday, March 17th, is St. Patrick's Day. I can't wait. Everyone remember to wear green, even though you won't be at school. We had a Greek party, I think we need to have an Irish one too on Friday.
Also don't forget that Wednesday, is Pi Day (3/14) and that it's Talent Show day, too. It should be a good week.

IMPULSE

I am currently reading the book Impulse.
It is by Ellen Hopkins the author of Crank and Burned. so far, it's a really, really good book. Somehow i just cant take my nose out of it. :]
If you have read any of her books, you probably already know she's a very good author.
Impulse is about a girl how tried to commit suicide. that's all I'm going to say because i don't want to give even the littlest thing away.
You should definitely consider this book as your next! :]
p.s...... If you have already read this book tell me what you think of it. :]

Another one on the bandwagon!

Ok, most of you guys are going to think I'm crazy, but I'm not reading just one book. I'm reading three right now, soon to be four. Yes, I have four going at once. They consist of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the Holy Bible, To Kill A Mockingbird, and soon to be Little Women.

Now, I hate how women lived and stuff back in the 1800's, but my Gramma got me Little Women for Christmas and I decided now I'm going to just give it a try... Just a teensy weensy one... If any of you guys have read it, how is it? I'm almost afraid to start reading it, yet I'm going to try!

Alright, I'll give you all a quick over-view of all my books:

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix:
It's Harry's 5th year at Hogwarts, but he has a lot to deal with. He has his best friend on the Quidditch (sport played on broomsticks) team, an evil Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, oh yeah, and the safety of the Wizarding (and Muggle ((non-magic folk))) world due to the uprising of a fallen Dark Lord named Voldemort. If you're interested in it, then you have to read the first one first! Then go in order! They're really, really good and the movies are just horrid! The first is the Sorcerer's Stone just for those who don't know lol.

Holy Bible:
Most of you should know...

To Kill A Mockingbird:
I hope you all know!

Little Women:
Unknown to me at this time

So, there ya'll go! Hope you all are doing alright with your books and don't think I'm too nuts! =]

Not Into It

I still have to get into this book. It STILL seems boring to me. I don't really know why I'm not interested, but somehow I'm not. It has gotten a lot better than it was on the first few pages though. I liked the part where Jem lost his pants. That was really funny, but it was kind of weird how his pants were sewn and folded by the time he went back to the fence to retrieve them. I think the Boo did it because I think he was the one who has been giving the kids the gifts in the tree. I also think that Mr. Radley filled the hole in the tree because he caught Boo putting stuff into it, and he wanted Boo to stop doing it.

B.O.R.E.D.

I'm really bored, if any of you want to talk about something really boring thats class related. But anyways Tim Burton is my hero. I thought i would let you know. :]

Million Little Pieces....AGAIN!!

hey guys!
ok...so im like the 4th person in the class who is reading this book apparently. So, your probably getting tired of reading about it. Just in case you don't know what book im talking about, I'm talking about "A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey. It's really a great book. I'm on page 240, and it just keeps getting better. I like it because its not like most sterio-type books about drugs how the person goes to rehab and has all these realizations and suddenly becomes christian and goes to church and he's all positive about getting better. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, its just that seems to be what always happens in books like these, but this one is different and i really like it. If you get a chance to read it, you should!!!!!!!!!!

Out of Order?

Last week i went to the library to check out a book and all i could find is this book called Out of Order by A.M. Jenkins. The only reason i picked it up is because it had a baseball on the cover and i thought i might be interested. Im almost halfway through and it has almost nothing to do with baseball. Its about a kid named Colt that during the whole book is trying to make his girlfriend Grace happy. He is the only sophomore on the varsity baseball team and looks up to the older players. There is also a out of ordinary girl named Corinne that seems to be everywhere Colt is around the school. But of the pages i have read there seems to be no action or anyhting exciting in the book. Im wondering if it will get better or not. If any of you have read this book just tell me if it gets anymore exciting. Although it is pretty boring as far as action and stuff im still stuck into it.

Wow... I'm Lovin' It!

I'm absolutely loving this book right now! It was the dullest thing I had ever read in the beginning, more boring than the dictionary. Yes, I read the dictionary, but not NEAR as much as I used to! Anyway, I couldn't put it down on friday! I read like 50 pages of it in just half an hour! It's that good. I'm extremely picky about what I read, but I really like it so far!

I'm particulary fond of Arthur Radley right now. It was very kind and gentleman-like of him to do what he did for Scout. How far are you guys? I'm going to read it some more, so buh-bye until then! Mwuhaha! =]

This Post is NOT about "To Kill a Mockingbird"

I know that everybody is posting about to kill a mockingbird, because that is what we are reading in class, but I am reading a series of books that, sorry Ms. James, is better than To Kill a Mockingbird. It is the Left Behind fo kids series, and it is simply incredible.

The main story of this book is about 4 kids who are not christians and are leading bad lifestyles, when the "rapture" occurs and takes away all the christians from the world and leaves all the non-christians on the now chaotic Earth. these 4 kids team up and find god, and decide to teach other kids about God, and save as many people as possible before the Tribulation occurs and the world as we know it comes to an end.

While their doing this, a mean guy, actually, he is the Antichrist (Devil), named Nicolae Carpathea basically takes over the world and forces people to worship him. So the kids have to hide from him and his "Peacekeeper" soldiers, while trying to survive the many plagues that God casts down upon the now evil Earth, and also have to try to show some people to God aswell. Sounds pretty tuff, huh.

I know what most of you are thinking: This is one of those boring, stupid christian books that just shows a bunch of people praising Jesus and reading bible verses. This book does have some of that, but it has so much action, violence, and blood, you would think it was a book about a war. Well, technically it is a war, but that is beside the Point.

This seriesis both spiritually uplifting, and gore filled, so it is the perfect combination for me, and i am currently on book 34 out of 40, so Im almost done, and I encourage all of you to go and get the first book, because you'll want to get the second, and third, and fourth, and never stop. That is how good it is.

Anyway, that is pretty much it. Adios muchachos

Beefy manwich A.K.A Jesus Freak

Grrrrr....

I don't know a bout you guys, but I am having a really hard time trying to read this book. I am still not past the first chapter. I am feeling really really stupid. It's as if I am a lot slower that people. Do you guys feel a little behind too? I feel like I'm the only one.

I am able to follow it fine, but I can't read it by myself. You see? I think I have to read books knowing i can read them without having a grade on it, but otherwise, i can't read at all. That's what my dad said, anyways. He told me that maybe i should talk to Ms. James about it because I can't read assignments. I have to read because I want to. Otherwise It'll come out odd.

<---That's basically how I feel. Like my life right now is a gian blonde moment. And it does not feel good.
In other news, If you have any ideas on how i can get used to this book and any tips on how to read it easier, please, feel free to let me know because I am very confused.

Keep Your Pants On!

I really like this book so far...not much has happened, but there's been some pretty funny things that have occurred in Ch. 5-7. Scout and Jem keep finding things in the knothole, and Jem and Dill keep leaving Scout out because "she's becoming more like a girl everyday." Those kids had some guts to go up to a creepy house...especially since it resulted in Jem losing his pants and having to lie to Atticus in order to keep from being whipped. I feel bad for Scout because she and Jem seem to be getting farther and farther apart...but at least she has Miss Maudie to confide in. Miss Maudie kinda reminds me of my grandma in a way, but my Grandma was born in the late 20s, so she wouldn't have been as old as Miss Maudie was during the time of the book. I really want to see what happens next...so see ya next time! ;)

a million little peices

That's the book I'm reading right now. It's a really good book so far. I'm only on page 50, but I don't want to put the book down. It's a really graphic book, so if you want to read it, I suggest you be used to stuff like that.
When I first started reading it, I didn't think it would be that graphic. But then, on the first page, was something that made me want to vomit. Haha, not really that bad, but still.

I suggest reading it. It's a really good book :]

No anesthetic for surgery? Ouch...

Okay, so I'm ahead in To Kill a Mockingbird, so I'm falling back on my pleasure reading book. Yeah, its still the one about WWI. All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque. It's so interesting to hear the well-known history from a different perspective. The writer, Paul Baumer, is smart, creative, and despite his emotionless exterior befitting a soldier, he is very soulful. Before the war, he wanted to be a writer, but now the war has scarred him and he finds himself to be just a robot, useful only for killing.

Right now in the book, Paul and Albert--one of his buddies--were wounded in a French attack. They are in the same "hospital" (and I use the term loosely) and are able to help each other through it. What was interesting, was the description of the doctors. Surgeons were saw-happy. If a wound was too hard to repair, the doctor would just chop off the whole limb. Because of this, Paul refuses to be "chloroformed" (or sedated). He is convinced that if he isn't conscious to stop the surgeon, he's going to lose his leg (which is basically signing your death certificate in those times). So Paul is conscious through the entire process. The doctor is mad that he can't use his saw, so he is visciously brutal when digging out the shrapnel and stitching up the wound. Paul's pain is extraordinary, but he still refuses to be sedated.

I love this book and I recommend it to anyone who likes war stories. It is sorrowfully beautiful and wakes us up to the fact that the enemy is made up of human beings just like us.

=/ Bad World..

I was looking at the book that I am reading, Divine. And noticed something strange about the cover. It is only a face, no words, no title or author, just a clear face. (This picture to the left is not on my book, i just thought it was neat. ;D) I was wondering why Karen Kingsbury did this...Is she trying to convey the fact that she wants the women she helps to find their identity, or realize that they are a real person instead of someone with no true meaning or purpose in life?

After thinking about that, I opened the book and started reading. I am on the page that talks about how rough most of these womens lives are. How they have no idea where they are going to stay that night, or what they are going to eat. It is very sad! If I lived with that fear everyday, i dont know what i would do! It doesn't even seem real to me that someone couldn't have a home, or food to eat and money to spend. These women don't have any of that, plus the have kids. Not only having to provide for themselves but the kids that they take care of. AND these kids are usually on accident. They were not intended to be born, but their mothers weren't wise enough to correct their mistake.

Reading this book has really opened my eyes to what people that don't have the luxury i do, have to go through. Everyone should read it, but I can't tell you for sure because I am such a slow reader and haven't finished it yet!!

So anyways... Hows everyone?

:D :D :D
