IT'S THE WEEKEND!! (part II)
ANYWAY! Hope you all have a great weekend :).
MAP Testing
Scout Saves The Day
The night before the trial for Tom Robinson Atticus goes downtown and tells everyone not to stay up for him because he won't be back until they are all asleep. Jem decides that he wants to go downtown also to see what Atticus is up to. Scout hears him and convinces him that she is going with him. They go get Dill and head to town.
When they get there that see that Atticus is setting outside of the jailhouse reading the newspaper. They began to leave and then see a group of cars stop in front of the jailhouse and a bunch of men get out. They move to a stop where they can see better.
Scout breaks free of Jem's clutch from when he stopped her from running to Atticus earlier. She runs through the mob to Atticus and feels a bit foolish for jumping in the middle of a crowd of men she doesn't know.
Atticus tells Jem to go home and take Dill and Scout with him, but he refuses. While this is all going on Scout tries to recall who the men are. She then recognizes one of them to be Mr. Walter Cunningham. As proper manner taught her, she began to talk to Mr. Cunningham. She was told to always talk about stuff that interest the person she is talking to because it is not polite to talk of stuff that interest you and not the person you are talking to. So, she tell Mr. Cunningham that she goes to school with his son and that he once came home with them to eat dinner. She tells him to tell Walter, Mr. Cunningham's son, that she says hi.
Scout was not getting any response, so she hit another subject. She began to talk about his entailment's and how they are bad and all, but that her dad said not to worry and that they could work things out.
No one talked and Scout began to think what she had done wrong, until Mr. Cunningham grab her shoulders and said that he would tell Walter that she said hi. Then the mob of Cunningham's left and went home.
Even though Scout was just a child, she saved the day, and was very brave jumping into the mob. I really do not think that Scout intended to get the guys to leave, I think she was just doing what she was brought up being told to do when she saw someone she knew. I think it is amazing how a kid can perform a heroic act without even knowing it.
SAINT PATRICKS DAY!!!!!!

i didn't think mockingbird would be funny
I was like wow.
haha.
Did you guys find any parts of the book funny???
Puerto Rico

What I like and What I don't Understand!
I was wondering why travelers would call somebody to go to h3ll just because they had a really nice garden. I was also wondering why Lula was so against the Finches being at their churches. I think that Reverend Sykes is a good man who wants to help the Robinson family by raising money to give to them so that they can buy a house. I especially enjoy how Atticus wants everyone to hear the truth behind the Robinson case even if he does not win the jury.
I have a couple of questions about the book and I would be glad if you helped me answer them!
1. Could anybody define what shinny or shinnied is in the book?
2. And why did they have Aunt Alexandra over if they didn’t want her?
3. Why would Mr. Cunningham not speak to Scout when she was asking him a question in front of the jail?
That would be all of my questions and if you answer me I thank you. Have a good weekend!!! :)
Snobby snobby!

The Notebook: Same as the movie, yet not
PEACE it's Friday
Hey man it's Friday! Thank Goodness. Even though i have to go to work after school today and tomorrow but i don't care.
To kill a mockingbird is really picking up I'm glad Dill is back because it just wasn't the same. This book is better than i expected. It gets confusing at times but my classmates help me out with some of that.
I hate to say that i forgot to read one day and i was completely lost. But later i caught up.
Well, I'm going to go so... Peace out!

Ch. 15 and Ch. 16....Sneaking out a night!

Southern Snob

I thought it was cool that Scout and Jem got to go to Calpurnia's church, First Purchase, and come to the realization that she leads a "double life"; one the Finch family's housekeeper, the other "having command of two languages" (well-educated and 'colored').
However, I thought it very rude of Aunt Alexandra that she even suggested to Atticus that something needed to be done about "her". Although she may be proper, Aunt Alexandra is very snobbish with her "More Holy Than Thou" attitude. She's so - I don't even know how to describe her - the way she talks about everyone in Maycomb and blames certain characteristics on their heredity. If I were Scout, Aunt Alexandra would have gotten a piece of my mind and I would have begged Atticus to ask her to leave. I'm kind of behind in reading (Ch.14), so that's as far as I've gotten.
I Don't Really Have a Title For This Blog
so i don't know what to blog about today that has to do with school really. I've gave my opionion about To Kill a Mockingbird plenty of times and I'm not currently reading any of books because i want to catch up on To Kill a Mockingbird first.
I'm getting my driving permit today!!! I'm excited, hopefully i pass it this time. I went to Republic last time and failed it twice. I'm going downtown this time and i've heard its easier. :) :) Thats the one good thing thats happened today, i havent been having to good day though. Actually its been pretty awful. i don't know why, just fraustrating. I'm really behind on my work in this class and some others. Plus...I'm in a fight with one of my friends from Puerto Rico for really the most stupid reason, but hopefully we'll work it out when i go to New York with her. I guess that's something really exciting!! I'm going to New York for her birthday party on March 31st. What all are you guys doing for spring break? Going anywhere cool? I was going to go to Colorado with my friend but i couldnt because my dad's wedding and my mom's baby shower is all on the same day that we would have to leave for Colorado but oh well. Well, none of this has anything to do with class or school but it's the only thing i could think to write right now. :)
Hope you have a good weekend!!!!!
The book finally gets HOT
That would have made the scene awesome, but it is still probably my favorite scene of the book, because it was filled with suspense. Anyway, im glad the book is getting good, and I hope that it gets even better.
The Half Blood Prince

Breathe. Just breathe.
I think that's sad. I can relate to this part, though, because my mom's ex boyfriend had to shoot my dog. He got really sick and we couldn't afford to put him down. Did you know that that actually costs money. Anyways, we don't know what was wrong with him, but he couldn't eat without throwing up and wouldn't move for a lot of the day. It was horrible. He just... shot... him... in the head. I can't believe that Scout and Jem thought that it was cool.
That's sad..
not cool...
THE DRAMMMMA!

TGIF
I really like To Kill A Mockingbird. I think it's a really good book so far. Things are starting to pick up now, and I can't wait to read about the trail. I think it's going to really bring me 'into' the story some more.
I'm glad that Dill came back! He's my favorite character right now. I think that when he comes to Maycomb, he seems to liven everything up, especially with Boo. I don't think that Scout and Jem would have done half the stuff they did concerning Boo, had Dill not been there. Anyone agree?
Aunt Alexandra is flat out mean, and I don't like her at all. I think she's too hard on Scout. It also bothers me that she came into the house because Scout needed a 'mother figure'. It's just rude of her to show up and expect to stay, and expect respect from someone (Scout) who doesn't want her there anyway. Scout seemed to be doing just fine with Calpurnia. And if it were me, I would rather have Calpurnia be my mother figure. She seems to genuinely care about the kids.

social skills.......
Today for our freewrite we wrote a list of important things for social skills when listening to someone reading their paper.Having good social skills will help the writer make their writings better. So I thought I would share my list of important social skills:
1.listen attentivley-listen closely to what the reader is saying.
2.ask questions-think of questions to ask about the story so the writer can be more descriptive.
3.smile and nod-smile and nod to show you are listening and you understand what they are saying .
4.be respectful-don't be doing other things while they share their writing and don't put your head on your desk beacuse this will make them think their writing is boring.
5.make eye contact
There are a lot of social skills but those are the five most important to me!!!!!
March Madness!!!

are you skilled socially?

I FINISHED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, now that i've talked about that. I wasn't in class today because i had to go drive for drivers ed. I got to parallel park. :P:P I've kinda figured out that you guys blogged today but is that it? Is our rough drafts due tomorrow or friday. Well, i'm going to go start on my rough draft just in case it is due tomorrow. :)
Why so sad?......ITS MARCH MADNESS

dang, i'm glad im not the only one.
UGHHH. I need to sleep until the end of May. Will someone wake me up in May? This post in no way relates to To Kill A Mockingbird, so I guess it's pretty pointless. I guess I just needed to vent. Hope some of you are having good days unlike the past few of us bloggers. Peace.
This la la la lullaby =]

Life
But not forgetting about
How my worst fears are letting out
He said why put a new address
On the same old loneliness
When breathing just passes the time
Until we all just get old and die
Now talking´s just a waste of breath
And living´s just a waste of death
And why put a new address
On the same old loneliness
And this is you and me
And me and you
Until we´ve got nothing left
-Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III
It's true you know, everybody has a bad day. We are all in deep doo right not and we all feel hurt. There's nothing we can so anymore but to just take a deep breath and continue with life.
But if there's really love in this world, why is there so much depression and why is there suicide and why the heck are we at war right now?
Scout and Jem and Atticus and Dill live pretty well [[as far as I've read]] and life's really not that dandy. Life hurt. And it hurts like you just got hit by a bus.
Everyone's Problems...
One: Because every 15th, something bad happens to me or someone I like. My mom fell down the stairs on Dec 15th, and my best friend got mad at me. February 15th, I was dumped. It hurt, but what made it worse was he didn't say it exactly to my face, nor did he pick the right time... But that's a different story!
Two: I have to deal with torment from him every day, and tomorrow will probably be a picnic for him.
Anyway! I hope that all of you people who have had horrid days today (or any day) have them get better! Bad days are awful! Go get a book and drone out reality! lol It works for me! Ok, I'm going to go read more of Mockingbird and type up this rough draft we have to do!
Still Bored With It.......
*sigh* Just another one of those days.
In To Kill A Mockingbird, Scout loved Calpurnia even though she yells at her and disciplines her. Cal and Scout have this friendship, so to say, that is unleavable. I am jealous of that. I am jealous of anyone who had a mother or a father that they can bond with., my dad doesn't live anywhere near me and my mom... well, you know the story.
I wish I had a mother figure like Scout does.
My Pappy's Old Too

=(
seems like it is going wrong?
Well, if you have I'm having one of those days today.
And it sucks...A LOT!
my whole day has been based on bad events.
it makes me want to scream.
:(
But i hope the rest of you have had an excellent day! :D
If you feel like today has been horrible, then you know how i feel.
And if you feel as if today has been great, your lucky!
Who Likes Sad Endings?
It's an amazing book if you want to see a first hand perspective on a war. I absolutely loved it.
it's about time!
My favorite chapter so far is chapter 10; when Tim Johnson comes to town. For a while, I never agreed with Calpurnia when she said that Tim was 'mad'. I just figured that he was sick or something. Nothing that drastic. But as Tim started getting closer to town, I started to realize that there was a chance he was crazy. But i didn't like the idea that Atticus shot him. If anything, they should have called Mr. Johnson to come and pick up his dog.
Let's have a conversation :]
NEVER KILL A MOCKINGBIRD!

Finallllly.. A mockingbird!!

Don't kill a Mockingbird
Does this remind you of anything

So I had a really good day today (Tuesday). A whole lote better than last Tuesday, nothing in particular really happened last Tuesday that made it bad, but last week just wasn't that great at all. Anyways, enough complaining :] I went to our school library yesterday in hopes of getting the siquel to that book Twilight I finished last week, buut the book won't be in for a few days and I'm the second person on the hold list. But I went to the public library and I would have been the 13th person on the waiting list, soo i figured I should just deal with being number two. In the meantime, I checked out a book from the public library just to keep me occupied and to have a free reading book. I checked out the book Leap Day, by Wendy Mass. I've realized I like covers of books that are simple, yet the story seems more interesting and eye opening. I started Leap Day tonight and I actually enjoy it quite a bit. It's about this girl named Josie and she's born on Leap Day (hints the title.. haha) and it's just going through her day at school on her birthday. One thing I like about the book so far is that it reads from the main character's point of view, Josie, and then it reads from '"everyone's" point of view in the story, so you know how everyone else feels and stuff. That's pretty much it, I hope i can get that sequal soon :/! Hope you all have a good rest of the night and a great late start Wednesday tomorrow!!:)
I'm moving!
Letting Go
By: John Mayer
I hate to see you cry
Laying there in that position
There's things you need to hear
So turn off your tears and listen
Pain throws you heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
No, it won't all go the way, it should
But I know the heart of life is good
You know it's nothing new
Bad news never had good timing
But then the circle of your friends
Will defend the silver lining
Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
No, it won't all go the way, it should
But I know the heart of life is good
Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
Fear is a friend who's misunderstood
But I know the heart of life is goodI know it's good
This song describes the way that I feel right now. My grandpa died on Monday, and so I’m not in the best mood. Listening to this song shows me that I need to remember that my grandpa is now in Heaven, and that he is better there than he was when he was still here:
A year or so ago my grandpa was diagnosed with carcinoid cancer. He, for the most point, was leading a normal life except for the doctor visits and the $2,000-3,000 shots he had to get multiple times a month. By Thanksgiving he had gotten so bad that he was in the IC unit at a hospital, and we were told that he wasn’t going to live much longer. But I knew that as long as he had his sense of humor, he would be fine. He has always been a jokester and a screwball.
By Christmas he was finally able to go home. He seemed to be getting better; and he was joking more than when he was in the hospital. Just in the past month he got so bad. He got to the point where he weighed less than me. He also could no longer sleep in his bed so he had to stay in the living room with a hospital bed. When he was still able to stand up (with assistance by my grandma and my aunt) he looked at himself in the mirror and said, “I look like I am in a concentration camp.” He had gotten so skinny. I think that you should know that he was a farmer and that there had not been a day in his life (that I can remember) to where he has not been outside. I’m sure that being stuck inside broke his heart, the only good thing about being in the living room is that he could still watch the birds come and eat from the bird feeders
In these last few days when he attempted to stand up he would just fall back down on his back, his eyes would roll into the back of his head, and he would shake uncontrollably for a couple minutes. My grandma would always start crying because she thought that she had lost her husband. My grandpa got to the point where he had to go to the bathroom on himself in his diaper type thing, because his body could no longer physically get himself up out of the hospital bed. Just the thought of this made me cry because my grandpa’s brain was working fine, and yet he had to go to the bathroom on himself like an infant does.
There are so many more details that I wish to share with you, but I am simply crying too much as I am writing this post. My grandpa never lost his sense of humor, but he let go because my aunt told him that he could go and that we would be fine. And we all didn’t want to let him go, but we all knew that he would be so much better off in Heaven than trapped in this body. The worst part of this entire experience is that my grandpa didn’t deserve to be stuck inside, and have to suffer like this. He always the kindest person in the world. He was so giving and gentle. I never saw him yell. He was always outside on the farm and it broke my heart to see him stuck to where he could not go and enjoy the outdoors, like he had done for his entire life. I love him so much and never wanted him to leave, but I know that now he is always taking care of me and that everything will be fine.

C:
A Three Year Teacher
He makes us listen to classical music during test and we can only talk when he lets us. He even threw a book at a student in the hallway! And he YELLS at us whenever we don’t do anything right. When I first had him I thought that “Okay I only have to deal with him for only one year, and then it’ll be over.”
But guess what? I was oh so wrong!!! When I was finished with my fourth year I was glad that I had passed his class and his torture-ness. In fifth grade I was so shocked that when I heard I had the same teacher again, my mouth dropped so low that I could have sworn it touched the ground. I had no clue that he was promoted for a fifth grade teacher. And then there was another year of the same teacher, same rules, and same bored-ness.
Now, at the end of the fifth grade year I thought for sure that I was not going to have him. But guess I must be jinxed or something because I have the same teacher for the sixth grade year! And then there was the same oldness that he sort of have when you had him for three years. And there was another year wasted on the same teacher. When it was the end of the sixth grade year I thought to myself to hope that I would not have him for seventh grade. And I guess I had hoped so hard that it finally happened.
I felt like jumping over the moon when I heard I was not going to have him for another year. And then Seventh Grade was (still is) the BEST SCHOOLED DAY OF MY LIFE!!!
Character List
Jean Louise “Scout” Finch - The narrator and protagonist of the story. Scout lives with her father, Atticus, her brother, Jem, and their black cook, Calpurnia, in Maycomb. She is intelligent and, by the standards of her time and place, a tomboy. Scout has a combative streak and a basic faith in the goodness of the people in her community. As the novel progresses, this faith is tested by the hatred and prejudice that emerge during Tom Robinson’s trial. Scout eventually develops a more grown-up perspective that enables her to appreciate human goodness without ignoring human evil.
Atticus Finch - Scout and Jem’s father, a lawyer in Maycomb descended from an old local family. A widower with a dry sense of humor, Atticus has instilled in his children his strong sense of morality and justice. He is one of the few residents of Maycomb committed to racial equality. When he agrees to defend Tom Robinson, a black man charged with raping a white woman, he exposes himself and his family to the anger of the white community. With his strongly held convictions, wisdom, and empathy, Atticus functions as the novel’s moral backbone.
Jeremy Atticus “Jem” Finch - Scout’s brother and constant playmate at the beginning of the story. Jem is something of a typical American boy, refusing to back down from dares and fantasizing about playing football. Four years older than Scout, he gradually separates himself from her games, but he remains her close companion and protector throughout the novel. Jem moves into adolescence during the story, and his ideals are shaken badly by the evil and injustice that he perceives during the trial of Tom Robinson.
Arthur “Boo” Radley - A recluse who never sets foot outside his house, Boo dominates the imaginations of Jem, Scout, and Dill. He is a powerful symbol of goodness swathed in an initial shroud of creepiness, leaving little presents for Scout and Jem and emerging at an opportune moment to save the children. An intelligent child emotionally damaged by his cruel father, Boo provides an example of the threat that evil poses to innocence and goodness. He is one of the novel’s “mockingbirds,” a good person injured by the evil of mankind.
Bob Ewell - A drunken, mostly unemployed member of Maycomb’s poorest family. In his knowingly wrongful accusation that Tom Robinson raped his daughter, Ewell represents the dark side of the South: ignorance, poverty, squalor, and hate-filled racial prejudice.
Charles Baker “Dill” Harris - Jem and Scout’s summer neighbor and friend. Dill is a diminutive, confident boy with an active imagination. He becomes fascinated with Boo Radley and represents the perspective of childhood innocence throughout the novel.
Miss Maudie Atkinson - The Finches’ neighbor, a sharp-tongued widow, and an old friend of the family. Miss Maudie is almost the same age as Atticus’s younger brother, Jack. She shares Atticus’s passion for justice and is the children’s best friend among Maycomb’s adults.
Calpurnia - The Finches’ black cook. Calpurnia is a stern disciplinarian and the children’s bridge between the white world and her own black community.
Aunt Alexandra - Atticus’s sister, a strong-willed woman with a fierce devotion to her family. Alexandra is the perfect Southern lady, and her commitment to propriety and tradition often leads her to clash with Scout.
Mayella Ewell - Bob Ewell’s abused, lonely, unhappy daughter. Though one can pity Mayella because of her overbearing father, one cannot pardon her for her shameful indictment of Tom Robinson.
Tom Robinson - The black field hand accused of rape. Tom is one of the novel’s “mockingbirds,” an important symbol of innocence destroyed by evil.
Link Deas - Tom Robinson’s employer. In his willingness to look past race and praise the integrity of Tom’s character, Deas epitomizes the opposite of prejudice.
Mrs. Henry Lafayette Dubose - An elderly, ill-tempered, racist woman who lives near the Finches. Although Jem believes that Mrs. Dubose is a thoroughly bad woman, Atticus admires her for the courage with which she battles her morphine addiction.
Nathan Radley - Boo Radley’s older brother. Scout thinks that Nathan is similar to the deceased Mr. Radley, Boo and Nathan’s father. Nathan cruelly cuts off an important element of Boo’s relationship with Jem and Scout when he plugs up the knothole in which Boo leaves presents for the children.
Heck Tate - The sheriff of Maycomb and a major witness at Tom Robinson’s trial. Heck is a decent man who tries to protect the innocent from danger.
Mr. Underwood - The publisher of Maycomb’s newspaper. Mr. Underwood respects Atticus and proves his ally.
Mr. Dolphu Raymond - A wealthy white man who lives with his black mistress and mulatto children. Raymond pretends to be a drunk so that the citizens of Maycomb will have an explanation for his behavior. In reality, he is simply jaded by the hypocrisy of white society and prefers living among blacks.
Mr. Walter Cunningham - A poor farmer and part of the mob that seeks to lynch Tom Robinson at the jail. Mr. Walter Cunningham displays his human goodness when Scout’s politeness compels him to disperse the men at the jail.
Walter Cunningham - Son of Mr. Walter Cunningham and classmate of Scout. Walter cannot afford lunch one day at school and accidentally gets Scout in trouble.

Yesterday, my friend and I when behind my old middle school, after working and caught a few fish for my fish tank. All my others died because of the ice storm. We dug up some worms then went on our way. When we got there I started to rig up and saw that I forgot to get the bobbers on the way out. luckily I saw one about 20 feet up in a tree. I climb up there and about 12 minutes later I got it down and rigged it up. By this time my friend had already caught about 6 and put some of them in the cooler. I think I caught about 5, but I only had one around the size we wanted. When we went home there was about nine in the cooler. My friend kept seven and I kept two because he has a 200 gal. tank. They are all pumpkin seed perch(above). Today they are doing fine and are adapting great, but not eating yet.
To Kill "To Kill a Mockingbird"!!

Who Done It?
I think it might be Boo Radley. I don't think that a little kid is the one leaving the stuff there, which is what Jem and Scout think so far. So comment me and tell me who you think is leaving the stuff in the tree for Scout and Jem.
St. Patty's Day
IMPULSE

Another one on the bandwagon!
Now, I hate how women lived and stuff back in the 1800's, but my Gramma got me Little Women for Christmas and I decided now I'm going to just give it a try... Just a teensy weensy one... If any of you guys have read it, how is it? I'm almost afraid to start reading it, yet I'm going to try!
Alright, I'll give you all a quick over-view of all my books:
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix:
It's Harry's 5th year at Hogwarts, but he has a lot to deal with. He has his best friend on the Quidditch (sport played on broomsticks) team, an evil Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, oh yeah, and the safety of the Wizarding (and Muggle ((non-magic folk))) world due to the uprising of a fallen Dark Lord named Voldemort. If you're interested in it, then you have to read the first one first! Then go in order! They're really, really good and the movies are just horrid! The first is the Sorcerer's Stone just for those who don't know lol.
Holy Bible:
Most of you should know...
To Kill A Mockingbird:
I hope you all know!
Little Women:
Unknown to me at this time
So, there ya'll go! Hope you all are doing alright with your books and don't think I'm too nuts! =]

Million Little Pieces....AGAIN!!
ok...so im like the 4th person in the class who is reading this book apparently. So, your probably getting tired of reading about it. Just in case you don't know what book im talking about, I'm talking about "A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey. It's really a great book. I'm on page 240, and it just keeps getting better. I like it because its not like most sterio-type books about drugs how the person goes to rehab and has all these realizations and suddenly becomes christian and goes to church and he's all positive about getting better. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, its just that seems to be what always happens in books like these, but this one is different and i really like it. If you get a chance to read it, you should!!!!!!!!!!
Out of Order?
Wow... I'm Lovin' It!
I'm particulary fond of Arthur Radley right now. It was very kind and gentleman-like of him to do what he did for Scout. How far are you guys? I'm going to read it some more, so buh-bye until then! Mwuhaha! =]
This Post is NOT about "To Kill a Mockingbird"
Grrrrr....
Keep Your Pants On!

a million little peices
When I first started reading it, I didn't think it would be that graphic. But then, on the first page, was something that made me want to vomit. Haha, not really that bad, but still.
I suggest reading it. It's a really good book :]
No anesthetic for surgery? Ouch...
Right now in the book, Paul and Albert--one of his buddies--were wounded in a French attack. They are in the same "hospital" (and I use the term loosely) and are able to help each other through it. What was interesting, was the description of the doctors. Surgeons were saw-happy. If a wound was too hard to repair, the doctor would just chop off the whole limb. Because of this, Paul refuses to be "chloroformed" (or sedated). He is convinced that if he isn't conscious to stop the surgeon, he's going to lose his leg (which is basically signing your death certificate in those times). So Paul is conscious through the entire process. The doctor is mad that he can't use his saw, so he is visciously brutal when digging out the shrapnel and stitching up the wound. Paul's pain is extraordinary, but he still refuses to be sedated.
I love this book and I recommend it to anyone who likes war stories. It is sorrowfully beautiful and wakes us up to the fact that the enemy is made up of human beings just like us.
=/ Bad World..
