Bonzai!!!

That is what the Japanese yelled at U.S. troops when they ran at them with their long swords in suicide attacks. I just finished code talkers and this happens a lot. The U.S. troops and the Navajo code talkers are fighting island to island with the Japanese. One of the islands they go to is Iwo Jima. The Japanese are fierce and just run at the soldiers out of no where with these razor sharp blades. The book also describes the horrendous conditions of the islands like the heat, the bugs/insects, the rain, and humidity. It would be truely horrible to have to survive and fight a war like that. Overall the book was good and I liked its descriptions of war. Now I want to see the movie Windtalkers.

Speedy Plays

I never did get to talk about our plays on Thursday and Friday. I will admit i was not looking foward to them when i first heard we had to do them, but they were alot of fun. Most of them were really funny too!! Personally i think my groups was the best. Haha. I'm sure it was funny to you guys considering i didnt even know what character i was!! :( All in all, it was alot of fun but the test was reallyyyyy hard for me!! and im sooo glad we're done with shakesphere. :)

Burned!!!!!

Ok, so i finished my book "Burned" on Friday after school and omg. It's an amazing book but really sad at the end. I almost don't like it because its so sad but i love it. I'm pretty sure its my new favorite boook. It used to be a Million little Pieces but i think that one is gonna have to go in second now because Burned is my favorite. :))

Now im starting a new book. It's called What Comes After Crazy. I"m only on like page 6 but so far what its about is this woman who has a physco mother. She's a fortune-teller and has been married like a million times and always is embarassing her. I think im gonna like it.

Thorn In My Heart

I am so made right, I just finished my blog and then I lost it!! I am really tired right now because I have been up very late....(the time i began to post this blog)....I have also been working on my science project all day. But anyways this book I am reading is really good. This mom gave birth to twins and the midwife said that the younger son would rule the older son. As the boys were growing up they were complete opposites, one loved to work the land and the other loved to hunt it. The mom loved the younger son and the dad loved the older son. The dad who was the head of the house was the one who gave the blessing to the son who was going to be head of the house when he died. Since the dad loved the older son, he was of course going to give the blessing to him, but the mom had a different idea. The story doesn't stop there either, but if I say anything else it will give it all away.

Blogging on the Weekend?

Just another blog...

I, Cotton de Fur, have just.....(gasp)...blogged on the weekend! I'm not sure if I blogged enough last week, so that's why I'm doing this. So far my 3-day weekend has been pretty good. Except that I have a huge project in Science that is due on Tuesday! So we have to present it? And what all is in it? Do we need a bibliography? If anybody has any suggestions on how to do it, please help me. This isn't exactly English related, but oh well.

What Next?

What are we going to do now that we are finished with Romeo and Juliet? It has taken a long time to finish reading this play. I really liked it, but it was really long because it was hard to understand by just reading the play. It really helped when we watched the movies, or did other activities to help understand the play. Did you guys feel like you did good on the "celebration" on Friday? I thought that some of the parts were hard, but most of it was fairly easy.

Endangered

Just letting you guys know that I love animals, but whales seem to be my favorite. The Gray Whale is critically endangered in the Western Pacific. This is not very good at all. The gray whale is one step away from becoming extinct in nature; that means that they will soon only live in captivity…unless we help protect them. There are many animals which are endangered or almost endangered. And there are even more who are becoming extinct in wild, which means they are only alive in captivity. People need to be more careful when it comes to wild animals. Because of our past actions, there are certain animals that might not be around much longer unless we do something to change that. Here are some tips that I found to help out endangered animals:



~One of the most important ways to help threatened plants and animals survive is to protect their habitats permanently in national parks, nature reserves or wilderness areas. There they can live without too much interference from humans. It is also important to protect habitats outside reserves such as on farms and along roadsides.
~You can visit a nearby national park or nature reserve. Some national parks have special guided tours and walks for kids. Talk to the rangers to find out whether there are any threatened species and how they are being protected. You and your friends might be able to help the rangers in their conservation work.
~When you visit a national park, make sure you obey the wildlife code: follow fire regulations; leave your pets at home; leave flowers, birds’ eggs, logs and bush rocks where you find them; put your rubbish in a bin or, better still, take it home.
~If you have friends who live on farms, encourage them to keep patches of bush as wildlife habitats and to leave old trees standing, especially those with hollows suitable for nesting animals.
~Some areas have groups which look after local lands and nature reserves. They do this by removing weeds and planting local native species in their place. You could join one of these groups, or even start a new one with your parents and friends. Ask your local parks authority or council for information.
~By removing rubbish and weeds and replanting with natives you will allow the native bush to gradually regenerate. This will also encourage native animals to return.


If we all just remember these things, then we can help save some animals! Yeah!!!
