These are pictures of A family living on a Tennant farm in Alabama during the great depression. It is a mother and her kids, and they are all frowning, which makes me sad.
I think they are sad because they are tennant farmers, which means that they probably don't have much money. With that many kids, you need money to support them, and without money, you might be living in a house that looks kind of theirs. Their house is basically a shack, and it would be hard to raise a family in a shack.
I also noticed that there was no dad in the picture. Maybe he is working on the farm all day, but I worry for them if there wasn't a dad, because that would make it almost impossible for this family to make it, since back in those days, women couldn't get very many jobs, let alone good paying ones.
I feel sorry for this family, because their life probably wasn't cool or fun, and just filled with struggles. but this is how most families lived in the Great depression, so I thought this picture would be a good representation of the time period that To Kill a Mockingbird was in.
Enjoy.
