Oh my gosh, on Tuesday, I went to the library looking for 'A Million Little Pieces'. Instead, it wasn't there, so I grabbed 'The Notebook' by Nicholas Sparks. I decided to compare it to the movie, and for those of you who have seen the movie and not read the book, it's around the same plot but a few things are changed here and there. For those of you who say the movie's more... adult-ish, the book is just a tad more than that. If you are shy about that sort of stuff, either skip it or stick to the movie. If you think the movie is sad, then you're in for a treat.
There are parts of the movie that make me want to cry (saying so if I don't cry in the first place), but there are all the parts in the movie PLUS the part where she doesn't remember who he is. I just read the part with that in it, and I want to cry right now...
If none of you have seen the movie or read the book, the main plot is about this old man named Duke who reads to a woman named Hannah. She has Alzheimer's, so she remembers nothing of Duke, her past, or anything. Anyway, Duke reads her this notebook he has about two people named Allie and Noah. It's a love story about how the two are separated during their teen years, but slowly come back to one another. Allie is engaged, but she decides and sets towards what she has to do. There's a twist at the end, so I'm not going to ruin it too much for you all if you're interested in it! I absolutely hate romance novels and such like that, but I love this book, and I'm going to continue to read Nicholas Sparks's writings! I honestly can't wait to see how his other books are.

:P hahah.
ooohh I've read the notebook:)
and of course seen the movie along with just about every other teenage girl in the world, haha.
I'm glad you like the notebook, I loved reading it!
:]
I know! I can't stop reading it! It makes me want to cry though... And it's the ONLY chick flick book/ movie I enjoy. I'm dead serious.
Do you guys have any suggestions of books? Not any lovey-dovey books, but like... fantasy, fiction, gross -you-have-to-have-a-strong-stomach books?
yea...i've read the book and seen teh movie and lovee both. The book is really good and i know the part your talking about where she doesnt remember him. i did cry in that part, its really. GOOD BOOK! :)
First off, I have neither read nor seen the Notebook. I know the ending, so I guess I don't see much point. As for your book problem, I suggest Ted Dekker or Frank Peretti books. They both write Christian Thrillers. Ted Dekker's books are more gory and Frank Peretti's are psychological and philosophical. (Big words ^-^)
Yeah, but I still love to read it because no one can perfectly describe the ending. Besides, the ending for the book is just a tad different from the movie! So there is a point to read it! And besides, it's a book.
I've read of Ted Dekker before... didn't he write 'Showdown' or something? I think so... Anyway, I'll have to find that book. I've heard the plot of that and it sounds really interesting! =]
Yay for bigs words!
YES!
you should read A Million Little Peices.
:D it's amazing.
Yay! I love awesome books! How long is it? How many pages? I really, really, really want to read it, but they don't have it in at the library! Aargh! It's making me so mad! *gigglesnort* I'm getting mad at the library... How strange is that?
Anyway, I wish it would get in soon. How bad is it? Like I know he vomits at one point, but like how bad does it go into details?
I hate this movie is the book any better?
Yep, Dekker wrote Showdown. Really good book. It's kinda boring at first though.
Uhh, the book is somewhat like the movie due to the movie being based on it, but I'm fonder of the book. It switches pre-tenses of writing which makes it interesting, and I think the book is better, sadder, and a little more... "adult-ish"... My mom found that quite funny (as did I to her reaction), but if you just tune that part out, it makes the book sooo awesome! =]
And, I will check and see if I can get Showdown. Thanks for the head's up about it being boring!
