Dill is the best character!

My very favorite character is Dill Harris. I think he's the absolute funniest and he can weave a story better than anyone. I absolute love the part when Scout finds him under her bed and the first thing he says is, "Hey, I'm 'bout to perish. Got anything to eat?" Then Scout asks, "How'd you get here?" And he proceeds to tell a huge tale about being chained and starved in his basement, kept alive by a good-hearted farmer, escaping by pulling the chains from the wall, walked two miles, worked at an animal show all over Mississippi until "his infallible sense of direction told him he was in Abbott County, Alabama, just across the river from Maycomb. " Jem and Scout listen calmly to all of this. When Dill is finished, Jem asks: "How'd you get here?" Then Dill tells what really happened--still with a bit of exaggeration. I found it so funny; I love Dill.
