My Pappy's Old Too

I can kind of relate to Scout in that my dad is somewhat "old" too. This is a picture of the Rose Bowl when Iowa State (where my dad went) went against Wisconsin in the year my dad was born. My mom is fairly "old" as well, but I don't have reason to be ashamed of them for that because they waited to have kids until they finished college. My mom is an OB/GYN and my dad is is Regional Manager for Auto Zone, as well as a Colonel in the Marines. I'm glad that Scout and Jem overcame their feelings of shame about Atticus when he shot the "mad" dog, and that they understood why they had to go to Mrs. Henry Lafayetter Dubose's house to read to her.

my dad's pretty old too. i guess it's because i have an older brother who's 21..if that makes sense. because to my brother, my dad's not that old.

that was just a big jumble of sentences. i hope you could understand that :P

Hey my parents are old too. They also waited until after college to get married and have kids. I have never really been ashamed of my parents because of their age, but in Mockingbird Jem and Scout are ashamed that Atticus is old.

oh, i'm not ashamed either. i guess it is a little weird, because all my friends' parents are in their thirties and what not, but it doesn't seem to bother my parents; which it good.

I used to be ashamed of my parents' age when I was younger, which is why I wanted to have my kids at like, 20. But now I understand why they waited and am not ashamed AT ALL. Except about my stepmom's age, because she's way older than my dad, and my dad's kinda old. So that makes her REALLY old. But oh well. :)
